Terrible, inaccurate HR or just didn’t work
I wanted to like this, but the data was SO up and down. Regularly my HR was recorded inaccurate on my runs when I paired with my Garmin. I did everything every blog told me -wetting it, making it so tight it left an indent in my chest, changing what I was wearing, etc. literally nothing helped. Then some days it was totally fine. Sometimes it just stopped working, even after I replaced the battery and tried to reset the device with the flipped battery trick. I tried it with Wahoo Kickr and it seemed to mostly work better, but not all the time. Sometimes HR would just freeze. I cared for it by wiping down after every workout too. Finally just gave up.
Fine HRM, but fragile battery cover
This is my second heart rate monitor, and it has served me much better than the Garmin Dual HRM, which conked out on me after about 2 months. Unfortunately, 5 months after I bought the Tickr, when I replaced the battery, the flimsy plastic tabs in the battery cover broke, and now it's not working right. A quick search revealed that this is a very common problem, and Wahoo does not sell a replacement battery cover. I would rate this a 5 if there were no problem with the battery cover, and a 4 if Wahoo just made replacement battery covers available. I see that some have tried 3d printers to make replacement covers, but with limited success. Now I have to buy another hrm, and it won't be a Tickr.
Probably wouldn't buy this again.
I bought this Aug 2022, and to be perfectly honest, I don't use this HRM enough. The last 2 times I used it, my heart rate was a steady 122bpm the whole time (no way that's accurate). So I chalked it up to me needing to replace the battery. I wanted to change the battery today - when I opened up the battery compartment, there was rust in there! Terrible waterproofing for a sporting product.
Reliable for Less Than a Year
This is the third Wahoo Tickr I've owned. This one was reliable for about 8 months and then started acting up. I clean the sweat off after each use to prevent corrosion. This monitor started completely dropping out after 8 months, and then would start consistently reading almost twice as high as my actual palpable heart rate until I'd remove the battery and reset. After a year, I'm done with it and will be replaced with either a Garmin or a Polar. I would assume Wahoo would replace the unit, but I don't even want to deal with their unreliability any longer.
Unreliable Product
This is my second Tickr - decided to keep the old one in my pain cave for use with a Wahoo Kickr - love it! - and the new one in my bike bag for outdoor rides. Worked well for two months and then just started behaving erratically, indicating no change in heart rate for long periods and readings that are 20 to 30 bpm lower than I know they should be, e.g. powering up a hill with the Kickr showing 80bpm. I wish. Tried reseting, cleaning the strap, etc. all to no avail. Did a quick Google search and turns out quite a few people are having the exact same issue, so obviously there is some design flaw. Wahoo has yet to acknowledge any issue, despite the very large number of identical issues reported online and on their support site. Very disappointed and will be returning this product to REI in exchange for a Polar H10.
Should sell for $5 - that's how much use it gave
It worked flawlessly for about 6 weeks after which I noticed it wouldn't show my actual HR (under strenuous activity) until about 30 minutes in. Where my HR should have been 140-150 under that kind of strain (single track mountain biking), it showed 50-80 bpm as if I was resting. Over the next 2-3 weeks it became much worse. For most activities it wouldn't get past 80-90 bpm, no matter how hard I was working. Occasionally it "woke" up suddenly, showing correct numbers for a few minutes, after which it went haywire again. I changed the battery, wet the straps, made sure there wasn't any interference around... none of this made a difference. I guess HR technology is still far beyond our
Device broke within a week
The device within a week of opening the box up had rust in the inside and killed whatever electronics inside from working along with the battery it came with. Really disappointing
Great HRM Strap!
The only weak link in this product is the snap hardware. I use mine 5x/wk x 2 hrs each workout. I used to disconnect one side of the strap and let it dry for the next day. But after 11 months or so, the snap hardware would corrode and break off before it could unsnap, rendering the whole unit completely useless. Now I unsnap both sides, dry off all snap ends with a paper towel, and let it dry completely for the next day. I'm hoping to get more than one year of use with it now before the hardware fails. In fairness to Wahoo, I'm pretty sure the directions suggest such a procedure, but I had hoped such meticulous care was unnecessary. RTFM.
Almost there
This is my second Tickr, sadly my first just stopped working due to bad battery connection - the little spring does not make good connection...you should go to a size larger. I spent this morning looking for a sleep app that would go with my Tickr which there really is not one and discovered at the Tickr automatically shuts down after 45 minutes or so. Here I would suggest adding a sleep app to your Wahoo App and an override to the automatic shutdown for both sleep tracking a bike riding. I use my Tickr five or more days a week in excess of an hour and half...so far works great. The Wahoo App is fairly basic with great potential for future upgrades.
Everyday use
This heart rate monitor has been fantastic. It syncs with both my laptop and the kick headwind....which is really neat and you have to try it! I use this everyday for indoor cycling. It has never failed thus far. The bands are nice stretchy, so every now and again you will need to adjust them. My only gripe is that the band never completely dries out before the next use. Granted it is in my garage...in the Florida humidity...But an extra band or color options would be a nice touch. All in all awesome product. I've used it for races, group rides and solo exploration. Thank you Wahoo for the great product. Keep up the great work
