Accurate & Dependable
Accurate and not a problem keeping charged for the 8-10 hours per week I use it. MUCH better than the Polar H10's (yes, multiple) that I've used over the years which had real problems with battery life. So bad that I used to check the batteries with a multi-meter before every use and if voltage dropped below ~2.9V I would use another battery. Was replacing batteries week because if I did not, the HR would lock onto a HR and sit there whether I was doing intervals or whatever. This Wahoo unit also snaps onto the Polar HR straps so keep those if you're switching!
liked the previous model better
The previous version of this strap had the HR monitor be the bridge to close the strap. For this new model, the HR monitor goes onto the strap and the strap closes on the left or right side on the body, the way you close a swimsuit top. To be honest, the closing mechanism doesn't look like it's gonna last, but we'll see, i've only been using it a couple of times. I liked how the old model was and this new model also went up quite a bit in price. OK, it's rechargeable but it's not like I had to replace the battery that often. I did sometimes have a problem with getting moisture in the battery chamber so glad that that isn't going to be a problem anymore.
The tech doesn’t seem to work well with other Wahoo devices
Getting the TRACKR to connect to my Wahoo bike computer was complicated and required me to go outside of published instructions. On the other hand, connecting it to my Zwift setup was very intuitive. But the worst thing is after 15 km on my forst ride with the TRACKR on the road, it just stopped measuring heartrate and the readout showed “- -“ with no measurement, with no apparent way to “wake it up”. Basically, I’m unhappy with the purchase.
A Tri Coaches review - Thumbs Up - Not sponsored
Having worn the WaHoo TICKRv1 and v2 and many other brands, I can say the new TRACKR is everything I'd expect. No run dynamics BUT we no longer have to fuss with changing out the battery. You have to use the same magnetic charger as your AfterShokz headphones. Battery last a long time. I did notice that on my Garmin the HR strap does not show up as a WaHoo device like past models, perhaps a firmware will fix this? Also, I love that WaHoo sends updates as needed unlike Garmin. Overall the strap and sensor are of equal quality that I'd expect after 20 years in the sport.
It's only been a few
It's only been a few weeks, but it's worked as expected. My concern- the strap is shorter than the older models, and the securing system is very very basic- it's just a one sided "hook"? I can see that bending and failing much sooner than it should. I'll hope for the best. Pro: I've not recharged it since I got it, Strava says: 8 rides-19:05 of ride time... I will recharge before a big event next week. Love it when it works, but the 2 other HR monitors I've used in the past 4 years both worked great for about 8-10 months. Then they would fail to connect until you were 10 minutes into your ride- I think it was a sensor issue- needing to be sweaty? (*trouble began usually after the first battery swap.) Hopeful this one last longer.
Great HR monitor diminished by suboptimal strap
I just upgraded from the TICKR HR strap. The TRACKR is a great HR monitor, it connects immediately and appears to be very accurate. The strap, rather than the monitor, is a problem area. I'm not an overly large man at 5'11" and 180 lbs but the strap, loosened to its maximum, is very tight on me. The side buckle is also awkward as it requires me to clamp the buckle in front of me and then shimmy the strap around my torso until the the monitor is in the middle of my chest. I find it uncomfortable and a step down from TICKRS easier front clasp.
I am super impressed with
I am super impressed with this heart rate monitor. It works seamlessly. I have had monitors from many other companies that don’t pick up my heart rate very well. I had to use electric glide and so forth. Plus, I was going through 2032 batteries like crazy! This holds its charge, keeps my heart rate consistently. My only complaint is the strap it’s a bit where the clasp came together, so I used a strap from an old monitor. That would be my only suggestion. This is much better than the original trackr that I used to have. Well done Wahoo
Tickr to Trakr
I previously used a Tickr to monitor my cycling workouts on my Kickr and Lifetime spin classes. After several years of faithful service it started showing erratic heart rates. Connectivity still worked great. Thus a Trakr became my new HRM. I looked around a bit before deciding on it. Connectivity and HR work great. I like the rechargeable feature, and the strap is very similar (same?) to my Garmin HRM I use in the water. I will have to revisit why I use the Garmin for triathlons and pool...
New TRACKR Heart Rate Monitor
The TRACKR Heart Rate Monitor with Chest Strap is a big improvement over the previous TRACKR. I love the rechargeable battery. The chest strap fits really well (it is very adjustable). It seems to be more sensitive in a good way. As soon as I put it on it activates and quickly shows up on my Wahoo Roam bike computer. It also seems more sturdy than the old TRACKR, although I have only been using it for a week.
Highly recommended. Compared to the
Highly recommended. Compared to the previous version Tickr X, the new Trackr device is lighter, easier to clean, and has a rechargeable battery. Instant and strong connection with Wahoo and Systm apps, and Zwift. Heart rate monitor is likely more accurate than my older Garmin watch. Have not yet used it outside the garage on a GPS-enabled run, but the battery life has proven very long-lasting.
