This is an amazing light. Incredibly small and powerful. The high is honestly too high for almost everything but the middle settings are good for almost every need. The battery lasts a long time and is easily recharged. Highly recommend this light and this brand. I have 5 lights from them now. They also make the best camping/backpacking lantern on the market. REI unfortunately doesn’t sell them so you have to get them off the fenix website. Their warranty is legit and fenix customer service is awesome. Camping aside, It’s also a great tactical light since it’s engaged by the tail cap and is easily EDC. Fenix does have an mounting system and remote available on their website.
This is a great little flashlight. It does everything I want it to do, and I love that it has the 18650 battery instead of a proprietary battery, and that the 18650 it comes with has a micro USB charging port built into it. I'd prefer the flashlight itself also have a USB charging port, but that's not an issue. I like how this flashlight has two different buttons for turning it on and for setting the mode, so that I don't have to cycle through the different modes when turning it on or off. It's smaller and lighter than other flashlights I have with similar output, and feels great in my hand and in my pocket.
It's a bit on the more expensive side (You can find comparable lights for less), but overall is a good light. It's bright and the battery lasts a long time if you use the medium brightness settings. The brightest setting is nice, but heats up quickly (as expected). If you buy a spare battery from a third party, make sure it is the right size. The 18650 it comes is a protected button top cell, which gives it an actual length of ~70mm. An unprotected button top 30Q is roughly 66.5mm and flickers if you shake the light because it is too short.
Saying that this tiny light is bright doesn't do it justice. At the brightest setting it lights up the landscape like a car's headlights on high beam. I like that the brightness setting doesn't change when the light is turned off then on again. I also like the rechargeable battery with several times the capacity of any throw away alkaline batteries. Rechargeable also means no more leaking batteries to ruin the device (I've had a lot of that problem lately). Bright isn't everything though. At the most dim setting there is just the right amount of light to read a map (or book) without being blinded. Finally, the status LED in the center of the brightness control indicates the battery charge level for a short time immediately after the light is turned on. The light's a tad expensive but you get what you pay for, and in this case you really do.
I used this light for my night nature explorations in the Boston Area, especially in the dark and rain of "Big Night" as amphibians return to vernal pools. Beam is so strong it penetrates water at night so you can see vernal pool critters in the water and on the bottom as well as at the surface. Compact and quick to recharge too. I have been recommending it to all my friends.
I use this for trail running. It is awesome! It has multiple settings ranging from a level that would be the minimum necessary for walking all the way up to an unbelievably bright setting that illuminates to an incredible distance. It is made of a durable feeling metal, so maybe there could be a lighter material out there for a runner. But the light is small, so it does not feel too heavy. I have had many headlamps and flash lights over the years. This is by far the best I have ever owned.
Great flashlight. Initial power-on tells you the battery state (green/red solid/flash). Flicks through brightness settings easily. Highest setting lights up an entire yard like a spotlight. Feels good in your hand and how great is this - it clips into my pants pocket when not in use. Charging cable included - initial charge is a little longer. Be aware that it does get warm in the highest setting.
Great little light! Just looking at it, you can see it is premium-quality. The color rendering (CRI-color balance) of the beam is excellent and allows me to see great detail without glare. One of my favorite features is the separate mode button. This lets me turn the light on and off without having to scroll through all of the different modes. The power button even recalls the last mode used. The flashlight, that the LD30 is replacing, was far less expensive but it only had two brightness settings (+ strobe), both, way to bright for close-up work. The blueish light was very harsh and glaring. It was okay for distances, I guess. The light from the LD30 is very warm and has a big adjustment range from low to high. I wasn't planning on spending $80, but the LD30 has all the features I was looking for and, I'm confident it will outlast the cheapo lights. I haven't tested the run-time, yet, but I look forward to trying it in the real world.
Fantastic light! Compact, well made, very bright, long lasting battery, and even has strobe. I have it with me every evening, use it many times per week, and after a month the battery is still nearly full! Fenix makes fantastic lights. I have carried their tiny pen light in my pocket for years and they also exceed expectations.
I bought this in 2021 and fell in love with this flashlight. Not only is it compact fits in pocket perfectly. It is perfect for hiking which I do every weekend before the sun comes up. I am also a pest control technician in the commercial department. Perfect for those hard to see places and the range is amazing for a flashlight so small. 2 and a half years still works like new. I highly recommend this flashlight.
