I just bought two of these for a yearly family camping trip (medium double and the long wide double). Both sizes work well for adults (fairly thin and tall adults). The Medium Double size pad is small for the REI Hunkerdown 20 dual sleeping bag so we bought the Long Wide Double and it fits just right. Pads were very warm and very comfortable especially as compared to single backpacking blow up pads. These are comparable and could double as a home blow up bed. Size is grossly different. No way to take backpacking as it would take up the entire backpack. One of them got really wet during our raining camping trip and two people held over a fire and flipped it back and forth and the external material dried out extremely quickly. Oh my Nemo pump bag snapped perfectly into the valve opening and I used it to air these pads up. Pads do not come with a means to air up the pad. Airing up saves effort if you lay out and open valve and let the pad partially self inflate before trying to pump up manually. These pads do take strength to roll up and fit into the bag due to the resistance of the air inside the pad escaping.
Bought for sleeping in our 4runner and it fits perfectly. Only way to get s decent night's sleep. There is no pump with it so be sure to buy one; you'll need it.
We got this sleeping pad for our camping trip this last weekend and neither one of us thought to check the instructions prior to showing up. Turns out, you need to let it inflate for 1+ hours on its own before fully inflating it manually... and then waiting 24 hours for it to fluff out to its natural state. Thankfully, you only have to wait that 24-hour period the first time. That's the step we missed. Once we got it inflated properly, it was a great pad. I would 100% recommend it, but also recommend reading all the instructions before you leave for your trip with it...
I am 100% sure I’ve used this more than anyone. I’m a travel nurse and I’ve been sleeping on this thing as my daily bed for about 10 months now. Before that my gf used it as her bed for about 2 months. Honestly still love this thing. It’s as comfy as a bed can be while being an air mattress. Won’t beat a real bed, but at almost full year of daily use… I’m still happy.
I bet I have slept on this mattress more than any other purchaser of this mattress in the country. I'm a travel nurse and I used this is my primary bed for roughly 400 nights of sleep. This includes occasionally deflating and moving it somewhere else. It held up perfectly fine with minimal wear and tear. I honestly kinda love this thing. And when I do camp, its basically home level comfort (for my crazy self)
I got this because the megamat wasn't in stock at the time, but I can't see why you would need anything thicker than this honestly. I got it to use with the Big Agnes Dream Island sleeping bag, and this juuuuuust fits in the pad holder attached to that sleeping bag. I don't think the extra inch thickness of the megamat would fit it. Unfortunately this doesn't come with a pump bag though, so I got the REI pump bag to store it in (fits perfectly in that bag, and the nozzle attachment fits the mat perfectly as well)
My wife and I slept together on the larger version. I'm a big tall guy and she's very petite, so I can't attest to how comfortable it is for two larger individuals, but for us it was extremely comfortable. FYI, this has an exceptionally high heat rating, so this is a warm mattress. I'm sure during the summer months, it'll be just fine if you sleep with a very light sleeping bag, but my wife and I were warm and it was rather chilly at night. Of course the mattress wasn't working alone, but it's heat rating shows that it was large factor. As for comfort, I (not my wife) could only feel the ground just slightly when focusing our weight on one point of it, like if kneeled on it. Otherwise, when we laid down we did not feel the ground at all. I was honestly surprised by how comfortable this pad was. I was skeptical considering the thickness. Like others have mentioned, this is a little difficult to put up, but it was nothing compared to our double sleeping bag...that's a whole other story. We had this deflated and rolled up in less than ten minutes, maybe less than five.
My first camping mat that I loved!!! I had no back pain. The pressure was great at max for two people. I am very happy woth this purchase. Easey to use with the Exped Schnozzel Pumpbag UL. If I remember, it took me 5 or 6 fills of air-filling. To deflate, I folded in half, started rolling, and placing my shins/knees after every 6-8 inches of fold and press the mat with my upper torso and arms. Had my teen sit on the mat to deflate while I repeated the folding. Once you get towards the end, unroll and reroll again to do a final close. Pretty good!
This Exped Sleep Mat is pretty comfy. It is exactly the dimension of our fold out bench seat/bed in our smallish camper van. It was the smallest of the double mats we've seen. The first inflating took much longer than the directions which said 1 hour for first time. It took overnight. We plan to just fold it rather than deflate each time. Combo of this pad and the North Face Eco Double sleeping bag will make our little van comfy.
Best nights sleep tent camping yet! I'm 210lbs. and sleep like a tornado I was able to fall asleep on my side or back without the ground interfering. Also plan to use instead of a blowup mattress for guests. I used without a inflation device, also the largest mat fits in my 2 person tent with little room to spare which is great.
