Best portable sleeping pad ever! Stays inflated and keeps shape
Great, comfortable product, very warm in cold weather and comfortable even in warm weather. My only complaint is that the O-rings on the inflate/deflate valves falls off whenever I open the valves. The product is still useable without the O-rings, but will slowly leak, and need to be topped off with air every morning instead of being worry-free the entire trip. I have an older version of the same product; the valves are slightly different and in three years I have never had a problem with the O-rings falling out. Whatever Exped changed, it made the product worse - they should either change it back to how it was or start including spare O-rings as standard with each pad.
It is made of high quality, durable materials. We noticed that it keeps the air for longer than many mattress pads. By self-inflating, it is full but somewhat soft. We just use a small, battery powered pump that makes it quite firm in a matter of a couple of seconds. You can roll it up with the valves open then put some pressure on it by sitting or leaning on it, then let it stretch out (the values are unidirectional) and roll it again. We are happy that it is not any longer than it is. It is almost IMPOSSIBLE to find a mattress pad that is wider than 21 or 22 inches, but is not also very long. We don't know that many people who are over 6 feet tall. And anything longer than this would not fit in the space we have available. We use it in our RV.
I started car camping with this pad this year. Pros: * Super easy to set up - I took it out, open the valve and leave it in the tent once that's set up. When I'm ready for bed, I vote a little extra air in to the intake before closing the valve and it's perfect. * Warm * Size. I'm not a big person and the medium is just fine for me. My husband has the long x-wide and the two of them side by side fit with a bit of room to spare in our 3-person tent. Cons: It can be tough to get enough air out of it to roll small enough to fit back in the sleeve, which is already a bit oversized to accommodate that. But that's it, and with a bit of practice I've gotten the hang of rolling enough out to repack it successfully.
Ive had the sleepi g pad for a year and a half now and wanted to truly test it for a while before writing something on it. Ive used it for about a total of 30 nights in the past 1.5 years and I’d say it is very comfortable. I am 5’8 and 215lbs and a side sleeper. I always had uncomfortable nights with soar hips and ribs, but never once felt that with this pad with its thickness. I would not use for backpacking if you worry about the weight on the pad, being that its not the lightest. The build quality is there and when lying on the pad there is not much noise that comes from it, so its also a quiet pad. Overall I enjoy tent camping all over again now that I have the pad that lets me be the side sleeper that I am.
Great sleeping pad! Bought this to use car camping in the back of our truck, fits great and is very comfortable. My only complaint is the exterior fabric, while it feels nice to sleep on, it attracts everything and is a pain to keep clean. I vacuum it when I get home after long trips! :)
We really like this product. We have 2 Exped MegaMats that we love, and we needed a pad for our 10 year old, so we got this because it's a little less expensive, has a higher R-value, and is a good size for her. It's just like the MegaMats only an inch thinner, and the MegaMats come with a pump. Why doesn't it come with the pump? Yes, these are "self-inflating", but we have never set it up without the pump. So the 5 star product gets a 4 star rating just because of no pump. The packaging mentions the pump is sold separately, but I couldn't find it on REI's site unless you read the reviews. Which we didn't, because Exped mats are awesome, we know they are awesome from experience, so we didn't read much about this one. It's still a great pad.
I really loved this pad my first trip out with it but by the third or so it would not stay inflated at all. it doesn't even com with a pump of any kind because it is supposed to be "self inflating" but it always needed extra help inflating. I have returned this. The comfort was there but I ended up on the ground every night.
I got the medium wide and it is the best 3 nights of camp sleep I have had all season. I am a side sleeper and no matter which way I turned my hips never touched the ground. It inflates mostly by itself, with a few extra puffs it was perfect. Packs up nicely- great for car camping.
I first purchased and returned the 30x77" size in this pad as I was trying to find something to fit the Big Agnes Echo Park sleeping bag and (despite their assertion to the contrary), the larger DeepSleep was just too big. Large, but comfortable and very quiet. So I thought I'd try the 25x72", thinking I'd have great success. Wrong. It was still warm and quiet, but I had a terrible nights' sleep on it and could never quite get the cushioning "dialed in." I'm 5'9" and 165 lbs. I'm returning it and trying another pad. But if you're looking for a great car camping pad, get the biggest size and you might be very happy.
