Perfect fastpacking shorts

I added small velcro squares to each of the seam pockets and these quickly became my favorite fast and light pair of hiking and fastpacking shorts. The seam pockets held my map, TP, hand sanitizer in a small dropper, two gels, and garbage wrappers without bounce when hiking and running <6mph. The zip pocket held my iPhone 6s to the side of my leg, which is the ONLY pocket on a pair of running shorts that has had minimal bounce while running <6mph. Along with the rest of my backpack setup, these extra storage pockets helped me to continuously run and hike without having to stop to take off my backpack for 9.25hrs, and then another 6hrs to camp on Day 1. Love these shorts!

Quality shorts, but the shorts are way longer than expected.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Ordered these in the 7inch inseam option in hopes that they'd be similar to the discontinued Ambition Linerless, which are my favorite shorts I own. The shorts arrived and-- while they are quality, lightweight shorts-- they are significantly longer and bigger than I expected. They fit more like 9inch shorts. Comparison photo attached for reference. Left side is the Ambition Linerless, right side are these Active Trail Linerless. Both are alleged Medium 7inch inseam. The Active Trail shorts look two sizes bigger.

Barely there feeling

The XL weighs 102 grams (3.6oz). My one knock would be the tie-string: it's skinny and stretchy. If you tie it too tight, it's tricky to get undone. If you don't tighten it enough, the shorts sag with a phone in the pocket. DWR works well - I put them under the faucet in my sink :-). Overall, great short that you can barely tell you are wearing. Another reviewer mentions a zipper pocket - mine didn't have one.

Okay shorts

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So had very high expectations for these since it's North Face but shorts are super thin material. Also when I put anything in pockets shorts begin to slide down. I like shorts to fit a little higher on the thigh but with just one roll of the waist band problem was solved. The waist string is also very flimsy material that doesn't seem sturdy at all compared to maybe other brand name shorts that are similar in style. One good thing about these is that they do not have a liner since those things always seem to bother and get in the way so often. The shorts are very lightweight, and are simple but very appealing if you're like me wearing gym shorts all the time and trying to dress them up is a struggle. Give these a 3/5

Can't take these shorts off

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These shorts are my new favorite. They're extremely comfortable and look great. They also do not ride up when running, road or trails. Only negative- the pocket positioning. These pockets are directly atop the thigh, and due to the shorts being so lightweight, it creates some pretty uncomfortable swishing around even when just walking. The right pocket does have a smaller, tighter pocket within the main one that keeps things a little more locked down. With pocket functionality in mind, these shorts are a great product for working out and lounging.

WEIRD CUT. RESTRICTED MOVEMENT.

I tried the large and medium sizes. Large fit like an XL or even XXL. Medium fit like medium, but in both sizes the crotch was cut really low and restricted easy movement. It felt awful and annoying wearing these. The fabric was great, and I wish they'd worked out. They're on sale for a reason. Please be advised.

Good shorts but run way too big.

The material is very light and what I was hoping for and the length is good (not 5 inchers and not to my knees but these shorts are HUGE in the waist and just big overall. I would size down. I am a 34 waist and got Large and I ha e to tie them like a pair of hand me downs.

great shorts

I love em. I am a 35 big hips but I went with a medium because of the elasticity and it was the right choice. I am 6”2 pretty normal portions except the hips (thanks grandma) and this fit great . They are just above the knee. I like the freedom I have in these and that they don’t have lined. Stop with the liner!

Best pair of shorts

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Easily the best pair of shorts I've owned. I bought these at a sale price and wasn't sure what I was getting, and there was one negative review. However, these have rapidly become the best pair of shorts I've ever owned and I find their versatility and lightweight fabric the best part of them. They're extremely comfortable to own and they actually look decently classy too, so you can use them when you're out and about in the city. I honestly might buy even more of these to just wear casually.
