low quality - poor customer service
I really wanted to like this helmet. I used it for commuting so very light handling over many miles. It’s lighter than I expected which was nice. However, the padding is of terrible quality and falls apart very quickly. In 6 months of commuting I went though 3 sets of pads and the fourth was falling apart before I finally retired it and opted for a different urban-styled bike helmet purchased elsewhere.
Best choice that I've ever made.
Bought this helmet for because of the testimonials on the Nutcase website and its looks. I picked the Sun Day color (Yellow), because I think it will be highly visible. When you read what Nutcase calls love letters makes it very convincing of the safety aspect of this helmet. It's not too heavy and its comfortable to wear, and if I had to choose again it would be the same decision. And just for the record it dose not look like a bag of half inflated balloons on my head.
Very nice helmet, but not for me
Cons: a little on the heavy side, with too much movement. The headgrip system is designed to have some play. The helmet will move about slightly independently from the inner headband grip system, sort of in a “floating” fashion. This movement is meant to attenuate the force and shock of an impact. A smart design, but the problem for me is that the movement interferes with my glasses, constantly pushing them down, impacting my ability to see and putting too much pressure on the bridge of my nose. The helmet is also somewhat heavy. Otherwise, it is very well made, solid feel, good attention to detail with quality construction throughout. What an irony, one of the best helmets I have owned, both in looks and quality, but had to return. Tye large size is actually large and will fit oversized craniums like mine. If you are ok with the slightly heavier than avg helmet and can find a way to make the glasses/sunglasses thing work, then this could be an awesome helmet.
Great helmet - but visor is useless
Fits and is cool and it is comfortable. I love the magnetic closure. The visor is absolutely useless and won't even attach much less stay on, unless it is super-glued on, so I plan to do that. Color is beautiful. Easily 5 stars if visor stayed on as it should. .
Great helmet
I have a perfectly fine - in terms of functionality - helmet now. It's black, has all these vents, ultralight, Mips protection, etc BUT I wanted a helmet that looked a tad less "dorky" :-). PROS -it sits up very high on the head but accomplishes objective #1 - the helmet actually looks decent. I remember I never felt dorky wearing a helmet when riding horses and this accomplishes the same. -good fit: this is the most imp't w/any helmet. If it doesn't fit, you're always going to be fidgeting w/the straps, adjusting the helmet, etc. and hate it every time. This one fits my head perfectly. -magenetic buckle: pure genius -straps: every easy to adjust (easily than many others) -color: I ordered something different from the standard black - dirty martini - wonderful color/without looking like you're a member of the army Notes -wish they included extra cushion pads: the helmet works for me but I can see that for some others they may wish for a few extra cushions -heavy: this helmet is heavy; like 4 times heavier than my current dorky but great helmet (that one I can't feel the weight at all but it doesn't fit as well). However because the helmet fits so well, doesn't shift around, it's fine but if you don't have a good fit, the weight is going to be a factor.
"Blue Steel" photo incorrect
I bought the "Blue Steel" color in August 2021. In the photo it is shown as a possibly metallic deep green with orange stripes on the back. The helmet that came is a matte sky blue. It's definitely not a question of monitor settings, incorrect photo for sure. Customer service wasn't able to find me that helmet that matched the photo in stock, so I'm guessing that color is from another model year and no longer available. Too bad!
Love it so far!
This just arrived today so I haven't used it while biking yet, but it's very comfortable and stylish. It came with a visor that I can attach to the front if I want. I bought the peacock one and my only issue is that the design and color combo is different than the picture on the website shows. I still like it though, so I will keep it.
Bad visor design
I bought this online but was unable to attach the visor. The pins would not fit in the holes. I took it to an REI store and the associate didn't have much more luck than I did so I returned it. Other than that, it fit well, but I wanted a helmet with a visor.
Visor is impossible to put on.
The detachable visor was impossible to get on. I was only able to get 1 of 3 attachment tabs to snap in and when I gave up and went to remove it the one tab that did attach snapped off. Stupid design.
Light & comfortable
This was actually for my wife as she was looking for some protection when we're out doing tree trimming. She had to make some adjustments but everything fits just fine. Who says a bike helmet is only good for when you're on a bike.
