Lightweight Casual Water Shoe
Brywebb

I used this shoe mainly as a casual shoe around town. I really enjoyed how lightweight and breathable the shoe was. But do understand this shoes purpose. Its not designed for whitewater use, but I think it would still survive the average single day raft trip. This shoe is basically a stylish version of the water sock shoes that I wore a lot as a kid. Great option for casual water use.

Horrible walking in the surf

Mulit-decade REI member. Bought these shoes with the idea I could use them to walk on the beach. Perhaps for another purpose these shoes would be good but walking in the surf at Zuma beach I quickly got sand in the shoe and in 30 minutes flat three of my toes were badly bleeding from the friction/sand of walking in these shoes. I got the right size, The shoes started off good but once in the water they tore my feet to shreds.

runs small, feels too tight, good grip

I just received them and will be returning. I wish I could buy a .5 bigger. My feet especially the top and sides are squeezed. So, that’s not going to work for me, since I intended to mostly walk with those, with socks. It seems that people kayaking are leaving good reviews. Part of it is this not a shoe with a tongue that you need laces to hold everything in place. It’s more like a slipper with the fix tongue and the laces are more to make it tighter than it already is. On the plus side, the outsole is really grippy, which I like. The insole is removable and is the same that you can find in cheaper versions on AZ.

Great for everyday wear

These have been my everyday shoe for the past two and half years. I wear them everywhere from work, the gym, the beach and small day hikes. The tread has at least another couple of years left and other than some small tears in the fabric on the top of the foot, the shoe has held up fantastically! The only reason I will not be buying them again is the small toe box, but I have very wide feet. However, these will still be my "go-to" shoe for travel and water sports!

Good pair of water shoes

Bought these water shoes as I needed something for walking at the beach. They worked well but maybe just a tad snug (and maybe that is intentional to keep debris out) but nothing that really bothered me. Sand still manage to work its way in (surprise..surprise) but it didn't hamper my enjoyment of walking along the beach. Shoes dried out well and drained water well. If wearing these on the beach just expect to really take some extra time to get the sand out once dried as it seems to really get embedded inside. I would but these again.

Great water shoe as well as a nice looking shoe.

A very comfortable and nice looking water shoe. I have 10.5 foot and bought the size 11. A perfect fit for me. The sole is sticky and playable and has very small water drain holes in the front and back.

Not for serious active adventure

I bought these for a trip to the Galapagos where I needed water shoes with good traction, a closed toe, and dried quickly. While I think these may be useful for less demanding applications, I would not recommend these for an active adventure Pros: Comfortable, especially with thin wool ankle docks Great traction Breathable Cons: Thin sole, not great on small sharp rocks. After three hikes, rubber got chipped, not sure how long they would last Not easy to get on and off, and no need for the laces, which just get in the way. No way to get them off by using your feet when wet Do not dry easily, even when removing the insoles. They do not take dampness well, and after using them for three days, began to stink

Hi There, Thanks for the review, we appreciate your feedback. You might like something with a thicker midsole such as our Brewer 3.0, Rassler 2.0 or TR1 Mesh. We hope you'll reach out to info@astraldesigns.com so they can help guide you to the correct pair! Thanks,

Stral Loyak Water Shoes

I bought these shoes for a 4 day river trip. The shoes drained well, but did take longer to dry than expected. I will be returning these as the rubbed both my little toes, until they were raw. I tried these on in the store and they felt good, had plenty of room in the toe box, but for some reason on the water they felt like sandpaper on my little toes. They fit and functioned well everywhere else, good traction, not the best in swift water and slippery underwater rocks.

Well designed, well constructed, comfortable

I've been kayaking for over 30 years. These are by far the best water shoes I've ever owned--well-fitting, comfortable in the kayak and ashore, good grip on wet rocks, fast draining and quick drying. Their slim profile helps them fit well into the tight spaces of a kayak' cockpit.

Half satisfied.

I bought this shoe for two reasons…first drainage, second keeping sand and gravel out of the shoe while kayaking. Drainage was five stars, awesome. I had expected a shoe with laces to allow me to adjust the fit around my ankle so as to exclude some sand and gravel. That was definitely and emphatically not the case with this shoe. Not recommended. I returned the shoes. I have gone back to wearing my NRS all neoprene shoes and living with wet toes.

Great Shoes!!!

I am shocked at how comfortable and versatile these shoes are. I work / stand on hard concrete all day long, and they are comfortable for that. I use them when bike riding in hot weather, darn near perfect for that. Great shoes!
