Very warm, but doesn't breathe

This jacket is very warn. I have warn it multiple times, and had kept me very warm. My first ride I used a think base layer at 35F, which was a mistake. The following rides I wore a thin base layer and was more than enough, even into the upper 20'sF. This jacket is a great wind stopper. My only problem with the jacket is it keeps me to warn (which is what I wanted), but it doesn't breath. Even on very cold rides I'm sweating.

Jacket is not breathable. Yes, effective as windstopper, but the body has to breath or you're riding in a pool of sweat. Pearl Izumi should add slits of breathability in the back and sides and bring back/add zipper pockets in the front sides. wish there were zip side pockets. Only back zip.

Nice jacket

I've been wearing this jacket in the 40-50 degree range and it's really nice. Sure, I wish there were a couple more pockets, but it's lightweight for the warmth it offers and pretty wind resistant. I weight 180 pounds and at 5 foot 11 the chest is very snug in the large size I ordered. It's sort of a laugh to think there is room for much of a base layer beyond a light thermal top. I'd rate it lower due to the small size, but it's such a nice jacket I can find a place for it in my cool weather clothing.

Warm and breathes well

This arrived in a mailing envelope and is lighter than other non-cycling sports jackets I've been using. I had doubts about how warm it would be. It's warmer than it looks, and is fine for 40 - 50 degree weather. The jackets I've been using for years, major brand names, but not cycling specific, blocked cold wind but didn't breathe, or did breathe but didn't block cold wind. This jacket does both, blocks cold air and doesn't get sweaty. It's perfect for cycling in moderately cool weather and I'm very satisfied with it.

Very Warm - Could use vents!

This jacket is perfect for cold rides (40F). The wind does not come through. That said, it gets too warm quickly. Zippered vents would have been a good addition. Looks great, fits well, interior fleece feels good. No wind flap.

Though the color is not what would have been my first pick, I am not so petty as to be disturbed by mere appearances. The functionality of this coat is key. It may be small on pockets but it is amazing defense against the elements. Wind proof, warm, but still flexible enough to be a able to roll up the sleeves when the temp rises. I love this coat for riding.

Does not conform to size chart

My chest size is 44.25 inches with 39 inch waist. Based on size chart I ordered XL which is the size indicated on the jacket I received. Unfortunately, the jacket is much too tight across the chest, and would not allow for any “layering” at all. Very disappointed and will have to return. Workmanship and quality seem fine.

Comfy for a low wattage ride

I thought this would be a good piece of kit for me as I like to ride outside (I have not been bitten by indoor training) despite the cooler weather. The jacket has a nice fleece lining and a thick feel to it. I took it out on a ride in 40 degree weather with a thin wool baselayer. I have to say the jacket is quite warm and comfortable. I'm 6' and 180# and the large fit with ample room for layering. I found a few drawbacks with the jacket though. First, the large zippered back pocket. I much prefer the two/three pocket with elastic top but that's a personal preference. The second, the arms were a little short. When I reached forward to the handlbars an inch or so of skin is bare between the cuff of the jacket and my gloves. This could be resolved with a glove that has more of a cuff though. Lastly, and this is the biggie for me, after a four hour ride that had some climbs and a good pace the jacket had built up some moisture. It doesn't seem to be breathable enough to handle much more that a recovery/commuter pace.

This jacket rocks

Took my first cool weather bike ride and this jacket was wonderful. Even zooming downhill, it completely blocked the wind and kept me warm. I'd highly recommend it.
