Very happy with this paddle board purchase so far! When I first started looking for one and doing research it was a little overwhelming. This one at REI checked all the boxes for me as a beginner. Bonus that it comes with an adjustable paddle. It’s not super heavy, I can carry by myself but it’s understandably a little awkward because of the size. I also love how it looks! I’ve taken it out on lakes a few times and it’s very stable. Overall highly recommend, especially if you are looking for your first SUP.
The board is both stable and fast through the water. Also, no problem having a dog on the front of the board.
I had been searching for a SUP for a while and found this Pau Hana at my local REI and loved it. It’s beautiful and well made. I only used it twice so far and I like the ride. I got the 10.5 board which is really big but it’s works for both me (5’4) and my husband (6’). It’s smooth ride, easy to balance and my girls 4 & 6 love to sit on it with me. There is plenty of room for all of us! I can carry it to and from myself too. I will most likely only use it for the lake, but can see how it would be awesome for the ocean! The one probably which is why I didn’t give 5 stars is that the paddle it came with is not well made. There is a screw sticking out and it cut my husbands hand pretty bad. And even though I was careful I cut my hand too. The paddle is adjustable which is great but where you adjust it a screw is just ready to hurt you. So that’s a bummer because I don’t really want to spend more money on a different paddle when the set came with one and it was already $1000! So that’s my only complaint. And I noticed all the accessories are pricy and I’m skeptical if they’re any good. But I do like the board so far, it’s a thumbs up.
This board can do everything well, so it's great for beginners and casual SUPers. It is very stable/easy to balance on. I highly recommend this and I also recommend a carry strap for easier transport. I'm 5'3" and this board is a bit heavy and bulky/wide for me to carry any distance farther than a few meters at a time without a carry strap. I primarily use this on lakes.
I purchased this form a friend who did not need it anymore due to a move. I am so happy with it and starting my third season. I can easily transport it and carry alone. I also love the solid construction and I have had no issues at all with the quality. I keep it in my garage and wash and wipe down after every use.
I bought it a month ago and I have used this paddle board on three different lakes, one motorized and in a river and it’s very stable. If you are an experienced paddler you will have no problem handling waves with this board. If you are a beginner, it won’t matter what type of paddle board you have, you just need practice to handle small waves, but if you are in calm waters. This board is for you! Not very fast, but faster than the inflatable ones.
If you are looking to ise this bord for one season its the right one. There is already a hole in the bottom and the padding bubbled up after one week of use. Sad to say i wont be buying anymore Pau Hana Boards. The last board i bought was from Hawaii this is the California version of Pau Hana.. not the same quality such a shame.
I am 6’2” 215 lbs and a casual SUP user in rivers around the Chesapeake Bay. I have an NSP that was problematic for me in even light winds and waves. This board can handle long trips, strong wind and waves, and makes the overall experience much more enjoyable. I am going to buy another one.
I've had this board for over a year now with about 30+ uses. Just as terrific as on the first day. Super, super stable and so much fun.
Beautiful to look at. Flimsy paddle, board that doesn’t stand up to small waves even prior owned inflatables fared better with waves. I’m very disappointed.
