It’s an EXTENDER

Friends! These straps are meant to SUPPLEMENT your hammock straps by adding 10’ or distance to your system. They aren’t meant to be used on their own — they make your system far more versatile, as far as finding a location to hang.

You're out of luck if you can't find two trees of the precise width and at exactly the right distance from each other

Excellent Extensions

When out hammock camping these extensions allow perfect hanging when: a) trees are further apart than hammock straps, b) campsites require 2" straps, c) trees have big diameters. I've put both of them together getting around a redwood.

Expands your options for hammocks

I primarily have used a hammock setup in the yard with several large trees (hoping to use camping soon). I bought the extension straps along with the tandem setup for my existing Eno hammocks. These are perfect if the tree circumference is less than four feet. If it’s larger you’ll need standard atlas straps (or XL) and some extra 12kn carabiners to make it work safely with the Ext straps. Either way it expands your hammocking options for using larger trees or trees spaced farther apart provided you pack along a couple extra 12kn carabiners. I like that they are wider than the standard straps to help protect the tree. They also pack smaller and weigh a bit less than the full size straps. Would I take them backpacking? Possibly depending on terrain and overall load but I wouldn’t say these are absolutely essential in a backpacking situation.

Good Value

Simple to use, the straps are very strong, they grabbed the poles I had the hammock on and stayed put. Good product at a reasonable price.
