Horrible Customer Service
Let me start by saying so far I have been happy with the cooler, but the customer service of Dometic is horrible. So the cooler has a light on the inside and a sensor for when the lid is open and closed. My sensor is bad on my cooler so anytime the door is open the light just blinks. No big deal during the day, but at night its like someone is flashing a flashlight directly in your eyes and makes it impossible to see anything. Filled out dometics online warranty form and after 2 weeks no response, called and sat on hold for over 30 minutes and had to hang up, called back first think in the morning and got a hold of someone. They told me to bring it into the local warranty center and when I went to the warranty center the guy refused to take it. Called dometic back and it took them over 45 min to answer the phone, and when i finally got to talk to them the lady thought it was funny that the guy refused the cooler, they did offer to replace the cooler but i would have to cover shipping. Shipping is overr 100 bucks each way.
Choice for van fridge
Love it! Chose over models b/c has excellent space, modest footprint (can remove handles for even tighter clearance), draws slightly less energy than other models, and has a strong price point. For my solar set up and other draws off my battery bank it's great. Holds temp, it's bomber tough, makes no noise, yup.
Best. Fridge. Ever.
No more coolers for me on long road trips! Best purchase next to my roof top tent, it has saved many of bacon packages and other foods from the destruction of ice/water. I would recommend this product to anyone who loves getting out all the time, I would recommend a dual battery set up! And also note this..not good for 100+ degree weather in Vegas while parked outside for 2 days in the scorching heat haha. It will drain your battery. All my friends love it and like using it to store their food when going out ..so much more space without the ice!
Awesome unit
Only had the CFX50 a short time, take the time to read the use manual, power coservation is awesome will run all day at 90 degree plus weather on my spare group 35 battery, quite and maintaines set temp, have to get use to buying cans instead of bottles for my favorite drink (cans stack better), plenty of space for a weekend of food, construction is very good, well built and placed handles, control panel is easy to use and see, consider the ARB but glad I chose the Dometic, have had motorhomes with Dometic great unit.
Best piece of gear ever!
I bought this about a year ago and it’s the best piece of gear I’ve bought for camping. Never having to worry about my food getting distroyed by ice in the back country is a game changer. I’ve gone days running this on my Jeep’s second battery with no problems whatsoever. I’m looking into getting a battery box for it so I can do things like take it out to the beach for a day trip, or to the lake fishing for the day. I even left it out in the rain/mud for a day by accident and it still turned on like nothing happened.
Amazing Fridge, amazing reliability l!!!
I bought this fridge at the end of last year. I had another brand fridge previous to this one, and after hearing a lot of reviews, wanted to check it out for myself. Upon purchasing this fridge, I was very impressed with its durability, build quality, and most importantly, the WiFi feature. This seems to be the only fridge in its class with a “built in” WiFi system to monitor the temperature away from the fridge. Most of the other ones have an “add-on” system which is pretty clunky. The first real trip for this fridge was a weekend excursion out to Joshua Tree with the great crew at oc-overland. Never once did it falter, not raise above the temperature I set it to. It did a great job at keeping everything cool, and fresh for the weekend. I would never hesitate to purchase one again! They make a great product and stand behind it 100%!
Will never go back to a regular cooler!
I live full time in a converted camper van and cannot imagine life without this coolbox/refrigerator! What a difference it makes to be able to have fresh food on extended trips and not have to worry about constantly replacing ice! The CFX 50 is the perfect size for storing food for 3-5 days (for two people), is surprisingly quiet, and has a great design in terms of interior space. Highly recommend!
perfect for overlanding
I love this fridge. Enough space for my wife and i to get away for a couple days. Or to load up beers for an event. I really like that if my truck battery goes below 10.5v the fridge will automatically shut down so that your truck doesnt die. I am going to get a solar panel kit for when I am camping. But it lasts 6 hours on my truck battery with the truck off. I dont have a dual battery kit.
Game Changer
I adventure with my cooler about every other weekend. Having this cooler is a complete game changer. We eat fresher, crisper, and healthier food and don't have to deal with the soggy cooler mess afterwards. This is the first essential piece to any weekend warrior. Paired with the PLB40 and a solar panel these have changed my adventure style.
