Pretty good, but scratches easily
I love the carabiner, the amount of insulation it provides (slightly better than ceramic mug), and light weight, but the text and finish scratches too easily. The lettering is close to half scratched off in only a month of use unfortunately. I regret not putting some sort of clear vinyl over the lettering, but this would have been hard to properly clean. The scratching is mainly from hanging it off my backpack and during biking around with it on there, it can swing around and get scratched from my backpack buckles and things. I think they need to consider using powdercoat/anodizing to have a more durable finish.
Cup looks nice at first but then the paint flakes
This cup is a great size and weight. Loved the design until we used it once and within hours, the paint/enamel started flaking off. It looks awful now and is unuseable since the enamel is flaking around the drinking rim. We purchased this in 2018 but due to bad weather and then covid, never went camping until this year. Tried to return it after it flaked but the REI store manager refused since it was purchased so long ago - she didn’t seem to believe the mug had only been used on one overnight camping trip and implied I was being dishonest about the amount it had been used. I understand returns are only allowed within 365 days but REI supposedly gives a lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects. This is obviously a manufacturing defect yet REI refuses to even give a store credit towards the purchase of a a different carabiner mug. I should have read the other reviews and realized others were having the same issue with this mug.
Not so hot coffe cup
The cup has out lasted the carabiner. I bought it to attach to my pack. Its just can’t take very much abuse. I keep using it as it is my mantra for the out doors.
