I love these boots! I don't write a lot of reviews, but every time I wear these boots I am remarking out loud how much I love them! They are so comfortable. They feel like a sneaker, but then there is this great ankle support. The boots are warm but not hot. My feet have not been cold once and I'm wearing these at 9000' + in temps that are peaking in the teens. They stay dry and the soft shell makes them very light weight and athletic. They look nice with jeans, snow pants, or black pants when I go out. I highly recommend these boots. I don't know if I've had Salomon before but I will be looking again when I wear these out.
I needed a boot that could withstand walks through somewhat snowy paths and on urban pavement, keep my foot warm and comfortable, and be acceptable in a casual restaurant. These do all those things. I'm flat-footed and the foot bed gives comfortable support without being stiff. They fit well across the toes. They're not clunky so I can feel the ground under my feet. They've kept my feet comfortable in sub-30 temperature for hour walks. These are my go-to for this winter.
These boots were very conformable from the get-go. They're lightweight yet very supportive. I usually have to use my orthotic due to flat feet and plantar fasciitis but these boots have a removable insert that is quite comfortable and offers great support. The toe bed is spacious and the shoe is true to size without being tight after a long day of hiking. The boots look even better in person. I've actually been wearing them out casually.
I was tired of needing new boots all the time. I needed something grippy for long dog walks in Minnesota winters and have a trick knee I don't want to fall on. These were perfect out of the box - no breaking in period. Comfortable on my wide feet, no blisters on the little toes. I was able to wear them for quite a few years before I started to wear them out.
Comfortable right out of the box. Great for wide feet and great arch support as I have high arches along with bunions. Wonderfully comfortable.
I have a hard time finding shoes but usually Salomon fits well as do French and Italian shoes. In this case I have a mixed review. I gave 4 stars because I think that depending on your foot and ankle shape these might be just perfect. I suspect that many people find them very comfortable. In my case the rating is closer to 3.5 stars Pros: The overall sizing was good, I have enough room at the toes but the boot is not too big ( I have never bought shoes on the Internet so I was concerned). The interior of the boot has no seams or ridges, so very comfortable from that perspective. Waterproof. Reasonably light. THey look good, although I would have preferred something other than a wine trim ( why are women's shoes so often wine, pink etc.?). In this case the trim is subtle enough. Cons: the lacing system design isn't very good. It's hard to get the tension right. I am surprised that Salomon didn't do a better job here. I have small ankles and so need the support but that part is only really adjustable at the top with only one hook on either side. When I try to adjust for more pressure the lacing is too tight down on the foot and still too loose around the ankles. So, not ideal for my foot shape and I don't want to spend that much time adjusting the lacing every time. I would have expected a much better system. Also, while there are no seams or ridges inside and the boots seem very comfortable at first, but I found that after 4 mlles the soles of my feet were killing me. It is either because there isn't enough support or maybe not enough cushioning ( or both). I inserted a insole, which I was really hoping to avoid. Thank goodness there was enough room. The next day I did another 4 miles or so and my feet felt much better with the insole. Again, I am surprised that Salomon didn't do a better job in this area. Finally, this boot doesn't really have enough grip in wet or moist conditions on pebbles or cement with embedded pebbles etc. And right now I am just walking on textured sidewalks or the road and I don't like the slippery feeling. This might just be a preference, so it might not bother everyone. But I have to say that I would have expected more out of a hiking boot. My hiking shoes ( not waterproof) are much more sticking in slick conditions.
I wanted waterproof sneakers but when it kept snowing, I needed some that came higher up. I ordered my usual 6 1/2 and they fit TTS, even though I have a wide foot. They were comfortable right out of the box - 4 miles on a 20 degree day, and my feet were warm and toasty.
With very little wear, they are already falling apart at the seam. It's so sad because they may be my favorite hiking books in a long time.
I tried these out to replace my aging Salomon X Ultra's. They fit comfortably and required no break-in, just like most Salomons for me. I did find, though, that they're not tall enough in the ankle to be a serious hiking shoe. The ankle doesn't go high enough to offer much support, and I would definitely worry about snow or debris getting in. The tongue also isn't connected to the body like on the X Ultra's which also made me worry about debris, water, or snow getting in. I ended up returning them after trying them out on one trail in Interior Alaska.
I live in Schenectady and it is pretty cold and snowy and i felt warm in these boots i have not been able to say that about any other boot. Great pair of boots i plan on buy another pair
