Very dependable
These poles held up to to very rough terrain. Stopped me from loosing my balance on several occasions over very rough terrain. Put up to a lot of heavy wear and tear. Couldn't have done this last trip without them. Would be nice if they had some kind of Velcro attached to them to keep them easily in their smaller position when not in use. i ended up using rubber bands.
Compare it to this one
This is the one everyone will compare against. The classic. The standard. I went with the aluminum one and it light, easy, sturdy, and feels good in the hand.
Compact for Carry On Luggage
I haven't stressed them on any significant trek, yet, but they seem sturdy enough. I was worried they'd be be flimsy. They assemble easily and, at least while new, lock up tight. Segments are held together with a plastic cable throughout, when disassembled, like some tent pole sets. They come with spare tips. The grips and straps are comfortable. Designed to snap/strap together tightly with integrated components when folded. Aren't shock absorbing; e.g. spring loaded shafts. I have name-brand shock absorbing, extendable trekking poles and a monopod/staff, where the segments slide into each other, but they still can't fit in carry on-luggage. If you don't have room in larger checked luggage, or are using only a carry-on, these are your only option. I got these through TSA checkpoints in the USA (SF & Atlanta) and South Africa without any challenges, but aren't sure if they are strictly legal for air travel in carry-on luggage. You might want to have someone available to take them off your hands at the first TSA inspection location if they deny them. I had TSA deny a hollow plastic whiffle ball bat for carry-on in San Jose.
Trail Running just got easier
I was hesitant to get trekking poles feeling it wasn't necessary and probably isn't, but training for an ultra marathon with over 7000 ft elevation gain made me want anything that can help on the hills. These poles deploy quickly, they are light, they definitely help on steep hills. I've been able to power hike or run hills a lot more effectively than without them. They also double as great hiking poles that can fold up quickly and stash away in your pack.
Hiking
I had always wanted trekking poles and finally purchased them. Why did I wait so long? They are light and easy to pack. Best purchase.
Great product
Lightweight, sturdy, and quick to fold up/lengthen. Came in very handy on a hike involving stream crossings, wet rocks, and mud. Very happy with my purchase.
too short
The labeling says "100 cm" but they are only 80 cm. No where does it say to buy a trekking pole 20 cm taller that what you need. The sales person looked at me and immediately said I need 120 cm.
Light but VERY fragile
These poles seem great at first- super light. However, one of my poles snapped in half on its very first outing. Yikes. Not very durable.
