Wanted to love...
I really wanted to like these boots but unfortunately the fit and style were off for me. I'm typically an 8.5, sometimes range between 8-9, so I ordered these in a 9. They were at least a half size too big but the bigger problem is that the boot itself is just really big. It looked like I was wearing clown shoes, so I was not convinced the smaller size would make enough of a difference. I'm glad so many people seem to like them but they style did not work for me and was not worth the money for a kick around winter boot. I opted for the dress chelsea boot instead and while I miss the soft lining that the thermal offers, they are awesome.
Absolutely amazing!
I've always Blundstones and these are great. My feet get cold very easily so I went with the thermal versus a different pair. I typically wear a 7.5 or 8 but I wear a 7.5 in Blundstones but I chose an 8 after reading other reviews about going up half a size. The sheepskin footbeds really fill up the space so definitely go up half a size. Without the footbeds, they're too big for me so I think if you plan to remove the footbeds, you need to replace it not just remove it. The color is also a lot darker than pictured here. Look at the color on Blundstone's website.
The Best of Blundstone for those cold tootsies
These boots, as are any Blundstones, are the bee's knees. They go with anything, don't feel or look too clunky, and are comfortable. I have poor circulation and work in a warehouse in Baltimore that is poorly insulated and heated. With that being said, I have cooooold tootsies and the best socks in the world won't keep my feet warm. These thermal Blundstones do... Love them. Unfortunately, because of the lining, my regular Blundstone size does not fit. They are too tight and I don't image them stretching out like my other pair because of the stitched in lining and the loft of the sherpa. The reason for four stars instead of five is strictly this. Nowhere on REI's site nor Blundstone's site was this noted. Definitely size up at least a half, if you like thick socks too, go a full size up (especially if you are nonstop walking like I am.
Great option for winter boots
I’ve been looking for a pair of boots that could work for Boston winters and wasn’t so clunky like those bean boots everyone wears here. I can already tell the thinsulate lining and sheepskin insoles will be amazing for when it drops in temps here. No break in period for these and the removable insoles makes it easy to transition with fall and spring weather. Compared to the original 500 these fit a little more snugly (maybe a half size smaller) but that worked perfectly for me.
Love these boots
I bought these waterproof boots for winter here where we get snow. I normally wear size 10 but sized up to a.10.5 and I am glad I did because they fit with room for my thicker sock. These boots are warm and easy to take on and off.My regular bound stone boots are much harder.to.get on. I have worn these all winter.except.when the snow gets deeper than the boots are high.Overall I love these boots and they are.well.worth the price.you pay for them.
Great boots but REI could improve on this
I wish REI posted the size stamped on the shoe as well, since I actually know my Blundstone size. I love Blundstone boots but I got the wrong size because of this. Also, my shoes didn’t have the Sherpa soles in them... which this style usually comes with. Weird. Returning for a smaller and (hopefully) intact pair. Also, these shoes run larger than the classic 500’s to accommodate the Sherpa insoles so if you plan to switch out the insoles, size down.
Fits TTS
I'm usually a 5.5 or 6 (US size) and I kept going back and forth between getting a 6 or 6.5. I'm happy that I decided to go with a size 6. There's a tiny bit of room, which is perfect for thick socks.
Going to get myself a pair too...
Bought these for my wife and she absolutely loves them. Has been wearing them everyday, casually and to work. Has kept her feet warm and dry when working outside in the woods this winter and spring. Great quality and comfort she has said. Definitely going to buy a pair for myself after hearing all the good things she as said about hers.
Very happy feet
I pretty much wear my original Blunnies in repeat year round, but I could not find warm enough socks to keep my feet warm when it is cold outside. Then, I found about the thermal boots. They are cozy and WARM. Of course they’re waterproof. I ordered a half size larger than I usually wear because of the sheepskin insole. I’m still on the fence as to whether that was necessary.
Better than expected!
I was hesitant to chose this style over others because I was worried the functionality would compromise the style, not at all! It’s warm, it’s well, super durable, and surprisingly cute! I’m usually not into a chunky boot but was so impressed by how versatile the look is. I ordered a half size up as recommended to accommodate the lining, fits perfectly.
