Convenient Mask
This is a good value Buff. Doubled up the thickness to wear as a temporary mask during the pandemic. I know its not an N-95, but it is better than nothing (trying to save the valuable PPE resources for the hospital and first responder folks ). It is always available and easily out of the way once it is not needed.

Warmth yes, Covid protection no
I expect this neck gaiter to be helpful for keeping my face & neck warm in cool/cold weather kayaking. I had also thought that it would do double duty as a Covid face mask, but it should NOT be used for this purpose. Some scientists say the thin fabric breaks up moisture into smaller particles that stay suspended longer, making such devices actually worse than no mask at all. The manufacturer warns against this product's use as a face mask.

Love

Love this, even though it feels like it shrunk a bit.

Great product! Somewhat lacking in style.

The Buff performs well. I just got it to use hiking and camping and have worn it on several hikes through the nearby state park. It works great for keeping the sun and bugs off my neck and wicking the moisture away from my skin. It keeps me cool from the hot sun And I assume it will help keep me warm on cool mornings too. The only thing I don’t like about it is that it is only dyed on one side. Unless I fold it just right, the white underside shows and it really detracts from the “look.” This was not apparent from the product photos or the online video. So I am disappointed in this. But functionally, I love it!

My headband has become essential to function!

I had gastric bypass surgery a year ago and one of the major problems after surgery is that you are ALWAYS cold in any weather. Winter is really tough. I came across this headband on accident and found that if I wear it out and about, around the house and even sleeping, my body temperature is perfectly regulated and I’m not constantly freezing! It’s cute and works so well for this purpose too! I’d start targeting post op RNY patients because this headband is a functional game changer between feeling miserable and feeling fantastic and stylish!!

I have loved these for 20+ years

This is how i make it through society without being shunned. I used to just wear them in the winter to not breath in cold air but i had one with me all summer this past year. This one is my new favorite.

Nope. Not the original.

This is not the original fabric, which was more like a t-shirt and a little heavier, and I think it managed sweat better. Unfortunately, I lost my ORIGINAL original one, and that design, which I loved, cannot be found anywhere, not REI, Buff's web site, or a gigantic mail-order company that will not be named (like Voldemort). And it smelled foul, requiring two trips through the washing machine before it was even wearable. BTW, I cut my first one 3/4 - 1/4 because I thought it a little too long I still have the 1/4, which I like as a head band with my hard hat and bike helmet.

Never take it off

I never take it off when I’m out. There’s no need when you are constantly using it. If I ever lost it or washed it incorrectly and ruined it I would be so bummed. Such a light weigh simple tool I use for so many things. It does exactly what it’s suppose to and you will naturally start using it for your neck then head and hair. I could cut out other items and weight because it was so useful. I can’t think of why anyone hiking or backpacking wouldn’t use one. Heat, dust or cold conditions, you’ll wish you had one.

saved my neck and face!

I’ve been skeptical about these for years and finally bought one for a long multi-day hike in Wyoming. This thing saved me! Wind: no problem, just pull the mask up over my nose. Sun: my neck is protected. Irritation and chafing: none. Breathing in dust: not with this on! Cold? Pull it over my ears and put my hat back on. I totally recommend it!

Best multi-use item you can have on the trail!

I have never had a Buff before but after seeing them on other people on the trail, I decided to give it a try. 1st hike with a buff was a windy 50 degree day. I pulled it out of my pack belt pocket and slid it over my head around my neck. Instant warmth! When my wool beanie was too hot, it made a perfect head cover. I will not hike without one ever again.
