great coat

This is one amazing coat. One note: it is NOT a heavy cold weather coat. And it will probably not allow you to put a heavy or bulky lay under it. But it is a good coat for milder winter days, and with an insulated vest and/or light merino sweater underneath (with base layer), it does the job on a colder day. And the length and sturdy 2 way zipper is just right for an active day, walking, in and out of a car, etc. I took it on a 2 week trip in the Midwest, where winds blow and they sun can be gone for long stretches. i used it both for my daily walks (with the layering I've described), and as a day and even evening coat. Worked great in all cases. The day I was flying home it was reaching the mid 50s in the Midwest and I didn't want to log it through the airport, so I mushed it into a stuff sack and strapped it to the outside of my carry-on backpack. Perfect! The coat is well made. Yes a couple of feathers have worked their way through a seam here or there. But overall they are staying where they belong. The baffling is incredible, the hood toasty without being hot, the little bill on the hood helps keep light rain or sun out of your eyes, nicely shaped, protective shoulders for backpack straps, nice finishing on the sleeves, sturdy zippers, soft lining, including in hand pockets, convenient phone pocket on sleeve, smart logo on sleeve, sturdy hanging loop. I really can't think of anything I don't like about this coat. It was pricey and I paid full price, which I rarely/never do. But I knew I would regret NOT buying this coat. I looked at others for less price and all were poorly made (REI) or did not fit me well (Patagonia). Consider it an investment piece. Great finishing. So light weight, can be made to work on colder days. But I still have my heavier knee length North Face coast in the closet at home for days when temps drop into the 20s or below.

sad, sad zipper

I love this coat. I bought it last year and dealt with the zipper, but first cold day this year - zipper was totally nonfunctional. Sadly I took it back to the store. I seriously considered buying another while there, but sadly I could not think about dealing with another bad zipper.

Kuhl jacket for the win

I've been searching for a new winter coat for 2 years and was so happy when I finally stumbled across this one. I love so many things about this jacket- the color, fit, how soft it is, the brand, style, etc. It is a warm jacket and surprising kept me warm in -30F temperatures (I had 4 layers of shirts on also). Only negative is sometimes the Zipper is hard to zip- there are 2 and they have to be lined up just right. Also I would recommend going a size up as they run small. I am typically a medium but needed a large in this coat.

Would be 5 star but zipper is so hard to operate

I have so far bought and returned one of these jackets and am about to return a second after having it shipped. The zipper looks sturdy, it is a good brand, but it is SO hard to operate. Two-way zippers can be a bit tricky, but I have had many over the years that work fine. This one I am only successful with about 20% of the time. So sad, it is a gorgeous coat, beautifully made, and - except for the zipper - exactly what I have been looking for.

Lightweight but so warm!

I searched high and low for the right Parka to take on a trip to Europe Feb and March. This Parka was perfect. It’s lightweight but did the job when the winds were blowing and handled the wet perfectly. Traveled trains, planes and loved the 2 way zipper and snug hood. It worked well with layers. It still looks brand new! Thanks for making a terrric product. I usually wear medium but ordered large so I could layer, it’s fitted style did not look oversized.

2022 version is the bomb!

I had the same parka from 2021 and like so many reviews, the zipper was a huge problem. I so loved this parka and was really disappointed that the zipper broke. In fact, I was known to say that it was the best engineered and versatile jacket I had ever owned. There wasn't one thing I would change about it (except the 2021 zipper). Thanks to the very generous REI return policy, I returned it and looked at the the 2022 model. Kuhl has replaced last years zipper with one that is much more beefy. Same parka, with an awesome zipper. Get this jacket - you won't regret it!

Warm but not too bulky

Love this coat! Keeps me warm and dry, but isn’t too bulky. Unzippers from the top and bottom, which is helpful when I’m riding my bike.

Beautiful cut and color, just not warm enough

I love the warm color and the trim cut of this coat, but it's just not warm enough for me to replace my old standby. I wore it on a not-freezing October night, shivered the whole time, and found myself picking feathers out of my hair after just an hour. I do wonder what Kuhl was thinking using such a thin lining - yes, it's feather-light, but also, just... feathery! Not like this company to skimp, and I hope they go back to their great construction of yore.

Awesome lightweight parka

Living in the mountains, this is the perfect 3 season jacket. It is very warm yet lightweight and easily packable. It is not as bulky as another top brand parka that I have and that's what I like about it. I am #123 and 5'6" and the medium fits perfectly. This is a fitted parka so keep that in mind when ordering. A small would have been snug. The hood stays up in the wind! There is an inside zip pocket which fits my iphone X. I have not had problems with the two way zipper that others mentioned. I do wish the outside pockets had a little larger zipper pull to make it easier to access pockets with gloves on. Other than that, I find no deficiencies. I love this parka! The raven color is not a dark black but more like a charcoal/black with a blue accent color on the zipper tape.

So comfy, but sheds feathers

Love the comfort and warmth, just not the feathers on my car seat months after purchasing. I asked a store employee if the coat eventually stops oozing random feathers, as it’s quite annoying. I have to vacuum the seat every other day. I was told that the company said they improved that issue this year, and to return the coat if it was still a problem. I really love it otherwise. Haven’t decided if I’m keeping it. Pockets are nice and deep.
