This shoe is so good! I've been wearing this all Summer, from the trails in the shadow of Mont Blanc to the red sand rocks of Moab. It's been amazingly comfortable in every scenario and the shoe is holding up so well. The grip is amazing and I've been so stoked on comfort even on epic days in the mountains. The coolest thing is that you can hit the bar for a beer or kombucha and still feel hip, since this shoe is so light and stylish. Or hit up a back yard corn-hole game or visit the local cafe for a cheese plate. No matter the task, hardcore or not, this shoe will take you there. Built for life, I'll say!
I think the Outline Gor-Tex shoe is the most comfortable hiker I've ever had. I wore them as a hiker and a daily winter shoe on rainy days. They feel like they were made for me. They are snug and have lots of cushion. I love everything about them. I got this new outline (with out Gor-Tex), for a summer hiker, but they are not as comfortable. They look the same on the outside and inside, but they feel very different. I got a size 7 in both models and this Outline is too big and it feels hollow on the inside, there is less cushion in the ball of my foot. These feel stiff and generic in comparison to the Gor-Tex model. The minute I put the Gor-Tex model on, they felt like a perfect custom fit. I will return the Outline to get another pair of the Outline Gor-tex, because I have hiked in the desert, in 100 degrees + and my feet didn't get too hot, from the added Gor-Tex. So for me, it's worth having the Gor-tex model, so I don't have to compromise in cushion and comfort.

I bought these 1 week before a big hiking trip (due to poor planning), and worried about giving them enough time to be worn in. I took them to walk my dog twice, and as soon as I got into the mountains at the end of the week, they felt amazing and ready to go. I was blown away by how quickly they felt worn in and by how great my feet felt after a long day or hiking. I didn’t even want to take them off at the end of each day! Love these! Highly recommend! One note - I almost ALWAYS wear an 8.5, and I ended up settling for an 8 on this shoe. I was nervous about getting a size that I don’t normally wear but these ran slightly big.
These shoes aren't for me. I am glad I listened to the reviews and ordered one whole size smaller than I normally wear. That worked nicely for me, however I have narrow skinny feet and I feel like these shoes didn't hug my feet good enough for me. I wore them on three different occasions and have decided that I am going to return them. Around mile 3 my knees really started hurting and my arches were uncomfortable. I did 8 miles in them on both days thinking they needed broke in and I just can't try to do it anymore. I feel like the shape of this shoe support hits further back into the heel then I would like it to. Other than that, the shoe is great, well made and very durable.
I loved these shoes but I am so disappointed by the quality. Within a few months the fabric has split and the tread has worn out. I haven’t worn them particularly hard either. Such a shame because I loved the comfort.
Thanks for reaching out to Salomon. This kind of damage may be covered under our warranty policy so a member of our customer service team will reach out to you. Thanks and have a great day.
It's hard to find hiking shoes that work and fit well. These are about perfect for me. The toe box is wide enough without the heel slipping. I bought a half size larger than my normal size to accommodate toes and thicker socks, and that worked well. They are comfortable and sturdy, with good grip on rocks and wet roots. I've waded through muck, across tundra, streams and rivers, and lots of rocky trails. I haven't tracked the mileage but I would guess they will last 500 miles or so. The toe is nice because where my big toenail hits is not mesh, so it's not wearing out like some other shoes I've used.
I bought this pair, and the GTX model at the same time off the Good & Used section of the REI website. Both were marked as "excellent condition", and I would agree. That said, this model doesn't fit the same as the GTX, or even other Salomon boots/shoes I've purchased. This has a roomy toe box, but there's still a rub on the outside, just below the little toe. I'm not sure if this is typical of this shoe (it's not the case on the GTX), or if it's a manufacturer defect and that's why the shoe was returned. It's not so bad that I can't wear the shoe, and I expect it will ease out a bit with use. I only paid $40 for an otherwise perfect shoe, so it's still worth keeping.
I am usually between a 6 and a 6.5. I have Salomon boots that are 6.5, so I "sized down" and bought a 6. The 6 was surprisingly very large, so I returned and purchased a 5.5 and they fit perfect. I had my sister who is normally at size 7 try on the size 6 I purchased and they fit her well, a little snug, but they fit. She would probably have purchased a 6.5 to fit her normally sized 7 foot. Definitely size down is my recommendation. Otherwise, color is beautiful and they are comfortable.
Sole wore out within 3months. Replaced by manufacturer without hassle which was nice. SAME problem! Tread on the ball of the foot was literally smooth (gone) within 3 months (150 miles). Have kept them as they are comfortable but definitely skeptical of anything “contragrip”
Was disappointed with the comfort level of these shoes. I have been getting the Solomon X Ultra for many years, & I decided to try a different model for a change. I wore them for one hour indoors & then about 1.5 miles outside. They seemed okay in the house, but half way through my walk, they began to feel very uncomfortable, especially across the front half. It felt like something was rubbing on the inside, & I had to return them.
