Tried others....love this one!
I'm new to kayaking, however I have tried a few 10' sot that I didn't like, the one I'm surprised with not being too great is the Ascend 10T sot from Bass Pro Shop. I thought for the price it would be a good one, not so. It has it's good features, but the stability wasn't so good, it's very tippy. I got to try that out on a lake with jet skis and boats causing some pretty good wakes and the ascend did not do well at all. My husband got me this one today in a beautiful red/black, tried it out in the same lake, same conditions and the Perception Pescador 100 handled the wakes like a dream. Tracking is good, this thing cuts through water and boy is it stable! There was a guy in a jet ski boat that was creating swells around me, I just smiled let my feet dangle to the sides and enjoyed the ride! (He was probably hoping I would tip over but to his disappointment, I did not :-)). My daughter tried it too, stood up on it and rocked the kayak, she stayed on, this baby is steady and stable! Our little dog got to enjoy this yak as well, she stayed in between my legs and was comfortable (she's a whopping 4 lbs :-)) paddling was very easy even with her situated in between my legs. My husband who is 6'4" at 200 lbs tried it out and likes it as well (He has an Ascend H12). After we were done, I tipped the boat over and over to clean & rinse off. The covered compartment for dry stuff was well...dry! Not a drop of water got in and we were in the water for a while! I'm so glad my hubby got this one for me, I love it and so happy with this wonderful little yak. I'm 5' 3 & 3/4", 220 lbs (I am top & bottom heavy, it is what it is:-)) and this perception pescador 100 is perfect for me! Would definitely reccomend.
Not quite!
I just bought this kayak and took it out on several trips. What I found was a decent kayak but not as stable as what I found in reviews. I have another (Costco) kayak the Equinox 10' sit in. It is a much more stable kayak than the Pescador. I use my old one in ocean estuaries crabbing etc, but am a little worried with this one. I wanted to stay in the 10' range for storage and transport reasons but don't believe I will keep this one for long. It does track a little better but I would prefer the stability. I am 6'2", 180 lbs. I say yes for the recommendation but realize stability is an issue with me!!
My new favorite activity
Just starting out in the kayaking world, started out with a sit in and wasn’t a fan. Felt unstable. Got this sit on top and I love it. Stability is amazing, tons of interior storage, comfortable seat. Able to go out on our local lake with my kids taking turns riding on the back cargo area (**that is not its intended use, I know). Love it!!
Excellent Kayak!
This is my fourth summer paddling the Pescador 10 SOT. I have found this to be a very stable, easy to paddle, and comfortable kayak. The dry storage areas absolutely stay dry. I paddle in rivers and creeks and also occasionally fish while kayaking. I average two days a week during the warmer months so I have used this kayak quite a bit. No complaints whatsoever! An absolute pleasure to paddle!
Easy, comfortable boat to paddle.
Just got in from my second day on the water with this boat. I find it exceptionally comfortable, and easy to paddle. Paddled 4 and a quarter miles today on a lake, which means I paddled and didn't ride the current. Handled wonderfully.
