Worth It!
Tired of your sweaty feet sliding out flip flops? Ever bash you foot on a rock because your flip flop flopped of your foot after paddling all day and you had just enough strength to drag your kayak out of the water? Well these solve all the flip flop problems plus some. Super great tread, no more sliding down hills and losing your flip flops. The straps keep your feet belted in nicely, no flop in these. Fall in the water, no more chasing down rouge flip flops. Feet tired of sharp rocks? These will keep your feet sharp rock free. If you are tired of flip flop problems, I highly recommend these flop-less foot savers.
Two thumbs up from an experienced sandals wearer
I have been a 3-season sandals/flip flop wearer for years. Unless I'm at church or calling on a client, I'm wearing one or the other. I prefer flips because I like my toes free but wear heavy duty sandals when hiking (if you call 3-10 miles on the trails around north Atlanta hiking) or on the river or lake. My Bedrocks take the place of both. I never had any pain or hot spots with these, but that could be because I'm used to a toe thong. They were comfortable from the start and keep getting better as they break in. They are light yet give me more stability than my heavier sandals, whether it's on a side hill, uphill, downhill, or flat. The extra grip comes in handy on my wet deck, in creeks, and on my bil's boat. I never had any compliments on my sandals before, but I've gotten several with my Bedrocks. Great sandals.
Making the switch to Bedrocks
I bought these sandals because they appeared to be a rugged version of my flip-flops, which I practically live in all Summer. After you get the Bedrock straps adjusted, you're good to go. For the past two months I've used them alternately with my Chaco Z Clouds, and I find that I'm using the Bedrocks more and more for Seattle urban hiking and just hanging out. The thinner, flat sole (vs the Chaco) is a better driving sandal, fits me like a glove. I'm a size 9 to 9-1/2 and the Bedrock size 10 (measured with their printout templates) fits perfectly.
Great multipurpose sandal
I have had 2 pair of these for over a year. I live on the Betsie River in NW Michigan & find that these are wonderful for use on & around the Betsie & in and around the numerous other lakes & rivers in the area. I utilize them on the SUP, on the Surf Ski, & in my canoe & kayak. You can’t spit w/o hitting a lake or river here & these Bedrocks have proven more durable & traction worthy then my Newports & of better quality then the now Chinese manufactured Chaco’s. In addition the toe straps don’t self tighten trying to put a choke hold on your big toe like the Chaco’s sometimes did.
Amazing.
I've worn just about everything out there and these are the best so far. Fit a little on the small side, go up a half to a full size. There isn't really anything they can't do, and the grip is awesome. Friction is killer on rock, they climb really well. Extremely well made and comfortable. These have replaced everything else I wear when it isn't winter. They run, bike, skate, slackline, scramble, and hike really well. Nice work Bedrock! Lightweight to boot!
Make Wide Sizes
All of my complaints about this product have to do with sizing. If you wear an EEE sized shoe, you may want to look elsewhere. Unlike other shoes, wherein one can simply purchase a size up to compensate for a narrow sole, the unique foot attachment setup does not work well with fore-and-aft misalignment of the foot. Should Bedrock begin to make these with a wider sole as an option, my review would certainly go up to 5 stars. Comfortable, easy to adjust to, and insane grip on slick riverbanks and wet surfaces in general.
3D footbed doesn't work for everyone
I live in sandals. Never had a model with a molded footbed and while the arch in these is not noticeable and even desirable if biking, the toe grip under the big toe caused me severe pain. I couldn't even walk on them after the ridge struck my apparently flat tow joint at the big toe ridge after a 5 mile hike. If you are trying these, be sure to walk on your toes for a while to be sure the ridge is not noticeable. These are otherwise excellent sandals, but I had to return them.
Well made, but they hurt my feet
I bought these based on all the reviews saying how comfortable they were, but I'd never owned sandals with a toe strap like these. Apparently, they're not for everyone. I walked in them for about 1/4 mile and the front strap was very painful to my toes. I tried all the available adjustments, but this didn't make the strap any less painful. They are very well constructed, and I have no doubt they are great sandals, if you are used to this style. But not knowing whether I could get used to them, or how long that might take, I'm returning them for something that doesn't fit between my toes.
Best hiking sandals
The bedrock sandals are the best hiking sandals I have ever purchased! They are comfortable, durable, and dry extremely quickly. I would recommend this product to everyone, and I just bought a pair for my wife and daughters.Totally worth the price!
Nice, but prefer non 3D version
I purchased these and the non 3D version. Love the design, but I preferred the non 3D version. These were too sculpted in the footbed for me. They are more similar to chacos in the footbed. They are also heavier than the regular version.
