For boots: Add one half size to your street shoe size. You should be able to slip one finger behind your heel when you are standing up with the boot unlaced and your toes touching the front. If the boot is too short, your toes will get smashed walking downhill. Too long and your heel will slide up and down and give you blisters.

I've had my eye on these boots for a long time. They went on sale and I decided to get a pair. Best decision ever. I previously had Columbia boots and they do not compare to these. La Sportiva makes quality boots that will last many years. The second I put them on, I knew they were going to be perfect for long hikes.
This is a very snuggly shoe, however it may run a bit small. Just make sure you get a 1/2 size bigger. Also insert an extra sole support and your hike, or even a slight run up a hill is perfect..... Nicely made....
I bought these boots for a 4 day hike on the Inca Trail a week before I left and was worried about not being able to break them in. I didn't have to! I wore them for the whole hike plus the rest of my vacation and never had a single blister or rub point. I bought them a full size up from my normal shoe size as recommended and couldn't be happier with them!
l love the fit, they are by far the most comfortable light hikers I have ever worn, but am disappointed in the waterproofing. First time I wore them in the wet undergrowth in the forests of Oregon they soaked through to my socks within an hour.
Ready right out of the box. No break-in necessary.
After I used it for 300-400 miles, something very sharp starting poking out of the side and hurting my foot. I got a big blister on the backpacking trip. Otherwise I really enjoy ankle covering and low weight, if there was a way to fix the sharp part I would love to keep using them
