Fantastic quality amd performance

I was a little hesitant to drop this amount of coin on a shoe for a 6 year old but I’ve tried to keep quality footwear on them and it’s better than spending 20 bucks every 3 weeks on the discount junk that performs poorly at the job. Anyway I’ve been impressed at how well these shoes have held up and how well they seem to work for traction, as well as reducing smell. They dry quickly too, when drenched by puddles or other water play. The “quick” lacing system took a few days for him to really get the hang off—it’s an easy concept but a little tricky in practice for small hands/fingers with still-developing motor skills.

Sorta good, sorta bad

These fit true to size. The shoe itself held up very well. The little mesh pocket that the string clasp fits into did not last very long at all which left the string flopping around. My kiddo also had a very hard time adjusting the laces enough to get the shoe on their foot and when I helped them it didn't seem super easy to me either. I might recommend this for older kids who would have better dexterity for maneuvering the laces, but not overall.

Great waterproof trainer

Bought these for my daughter. She loves outdoors, mud, wet, you name it! She had a pair of Solamon before which were amazing too. These trainers are comfortable, they grip well in the wet although a little slippy on tarmac due to the tread pattern. One thing I would like to see improved is the lace storage in the tongue. Once the trainers are tight, the lace itself makes it difficult to stow the laces away inside the tongue pocket. This means stopping frequently to tuck them back in as best you can. Its fiddly, but doable and could be a lot better I'd recommend a slight design change to rectify the problem.

Great shoes for adult small feet!

As a small woman (5 ft tall) I have a hard time finding a quality running shoe. This model fits great! The quicklace does not loosen when trail running/hiking. The back snuggles my heel. Very comfortable.

Great shoe for kids

I have two boys who are very active outdoors. This is the fourth pair of Speedcross Jr. that I have bought for them. It is a great all around shoe that can handle anything you throw at it: backpacking, trail running, biking, and just everyday wear. They have been great so far. One thing we have noticed though is that the fabric across the toe tends to rip after a while. We have noticed this on the Speedcross' of our friends children as well. Typically the shoe is pretty worn at this point so I don't see this as a warning flag, just maybe a textile issue.

Looks don't make up for function

I purchased these for my 8yr old. They are nice looking shoes and we have been a salomon family for some time. However, these shoes are not very well thought out. For little feet the tongue is not long enough, such that when the laces are pulled tight the lace pocket (garage) on the tongue is too small to fit the lace cam holder as well as the lace end clips. What ultimately happens is that the laces end up flapping about. This is not ideal. I'm concerned my daughter may trip during our numerous hikes.

buying hiking shoes for kids is worth it

My son hikes in these. I debated buying these pricey shoes for each of my kids but I don't regret it. They have held up much better than tennis shoes. He can run around on slippery trails. I would love a water proof taller GTX boot be available.

(Mostly) Happy with our Purchase

Great shoes - ordered 3 pairs for different kids - these ones in particular were not proving to be waterproof - warrenty was pretty good and Saloman provided us with a coupon code for the amt we spent - had to wait for a sale to use the code (as we had purchased on a sale previously) vs just replacing the product with the same item as it was still in stock. The other shoes we purchased seem to be holding up for waterproof ability.

Mostly good but no longer waterproof

Comfortable and light. I like the style of lacing now that I've got used to it. The shoes have not had heavy use, so I'm disappointed that only 2 months after purchase, one of the shoes was no longer waterproof after walking on wet grass. I specifically wanted waterproof shoes.
