Lighthouse Core Lantern
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Received this Lantern from Goal Zero the first thing you will notice about this item is it's size nice compact size very easy to pack away no matter where you are going the next thing is how nice and bright this unit is very bright and I like the idea of being able to control # of bulbs you cand have on. And then there is the feature of the power port to charge other devices very nice also this Product is very well made,Great Product Thank you Goal Zero

Same problems as others before
Got this lamp to use in place of a d cell battery powered heavy Coleman led pattern. Loved it out of the box, great light adjustability, long battery life, and much less weight. But 6 months after purchase the light turned itself on with the switch in the off position and will not turn off. Great idea and product in theory, but due to what I am sure is a bad circuit board led control terrible in execution. Returned to REI for $13 shipping, hoping they give me a credit instead of another one of these because there have been enough previous failures listed here to convince me it will happen again. For $50 look elsewhere..
Goal 0.5 Stars
I bought this lantern while travelling to the States and loved it. Fast foward a few months and now it's trash, with the same issue described by so many reviews here and elsewhere on the web. I'm amazed this product is available for sale when clearly so many are defective. You should be informed at point of sale that you're playing Russian roulette. Would return this product were I not living in another country and without a receipt. If Goal Zero's ethos truly were to respect the planet, they would recall this product and test or amend the circuitry, thereby preventing so many of these becoming early landfill.
Won’t turn off
Bought this lantern about a year ago. It worked well at first, but now it won’t turn off. I opened up my camping gear shortly after returning from a camping trip and realized the light was on even though the switch was in the off position. I turned the dial both ways and it only got brighter. It’s now been on (switch still in the off position) for 4 straight days... so... i guess it’s got great battery life?
This light won't turn off
I went though TWO of these lights and they won't turn off. Save your money and don't buy this light get something else.
Can't Shut Off, Bright Setting Doesn't Work
I'm having the same problem that a few customers here and on the Goal Zero web site have reported - the lantern comes on by itself randomly and once on, can't be shut off. It will eventually shut itself off (after hours & hours), but I have not actually witnessed this. In addition, the "bright" side rotary control has no effect on light output. The lantern worked fine until it began coming on by itself. Now it is just stored away in a closet and may or may not work when needed.
Worked great, until it malfunctioned.
I loved this little lamp, it did everything I wanted it to do-- bright enough, adjustable, and held a great charge. A few weeks after its last use, I noticed it had turned on. I assumed that something must have knocked the switch on, but nothing had, and I found myself unable to turn it off. I waited it out, hoping that once the batter ran out I could recharge it and reset whatever was wrong with it. Unfortunately the same thing happened. It turned on and stayed on a second time. Something was clearly faulty with the switch. I've read other reviews that have the same complaint, so it must be a manufacturing or design issue. I returned it, an would buy again if this issue was addressed.
great lantern that is simple and effective
Compact light design, with magnets on bottom if you want to stick it to something metal. The other more $$ model has feet and other features but I like this model due to its low-stable design. I use other GZ solar products so this is a welcome addition to my camping box. I like the ability to only use 1/2 of the lantern to save juice....many times in a small space the 1/2 setting will do the job. The ability to charge your phone from the usb port is also useful and the lantern does not have to be turned on for that usb port to work, the 4 blue LED lights that show the power levels light up for a short time and then go off if you are just charging a phone via the usb port. During use of the light, the 4 blue led power level lights stay on. During charging of the lantern battery, the led lights also stay on and show what the level of battery charging is.
Lots of light from a litte lantern
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] When I turned this lantern on I was blown away with the linens it gives off ! I love how compact it is while shining 450 lumens at full power! To save energy, you can also only use one side of the light. ! It charges by usb and solar! You can also charge your cellphone on it ! It’s the perfect accessory you need with you on a night camping trip!

Great lantern! Terrible durability
Loved this lantern when I got it. Wonderful soft light. Dimming adjustment was great. Didn't use it very many times, but kept it charged. Less than a year and a half later, I noticed it was powered on, even though switched off. Looking online, seems to be a common problem. Checked the manufacturer website, same issues. Noticed their warranty said "Two Years". Great! Read the fine print, "Only two years if you purchase direct" from them. So for $50, I have a junk light that I can't even throw away properly without taking to an E-Waste site, because the battery is built in. I emailed the company anyway to see if they would honor the two year, but haven't even received the usual automatic response email. I'm guessing they don't care. Do yourself a favor and buy anything BUT GoalZero.
