ideal for a group camp
I'm still an Aqua Mira guy, but I used this while camping with a group of 9 others, with clear water from a spring. Filter worked rapidly and didn't clog after 9 days of service. It could probably use color coded hose and bag connections, as a few users were too clueless to use this properly. It's not intuitive, but if one just looks at the bags and the arrows, one can figure it out. Connection threads will work with a few brands of water bottles (Smartwater for one), with good flow if capped loosely enough for air to escape as water fills the bottle.
Game Changer
Took this on a recent backcountry trip with multiple people. Saved a lot of time and energy over my pump filter. I just wish sawyer would improve their bags to make them more durable and packable. It would also be nice to have a better nozzle on the clean water bag that was easier to close. Still a great product.
Bag lacks durabilty
The convenience of the gravity filter was great. It made it nice for filtering water while doing other camp chores. The sawyer bags could be better though. The dirty water bag developed a whole during our first backpacking trip with it.
Really works even for silty water
Bought this for a moose hunt in interior alaska this fall. Worked wonderfully from the start and we probably filtered more than 20 gallons with it. Make sure to keep the provided syringe for backflushing the silt out of the filter.
Very leaky
I would give this product a 5/5 rating if it weren't so leaky. Try as a I might, the connections are poor- this design could use some O-rings.
Who doesn't like clean water???
We purchased this product primarily for trailer camping, not for hiking or wilderness camping. We know that campsite water is probably potable, but it sometimes can be gritty or have other flavours. We noticed a distinct quality improvement in the purified water. This Sawyer water filter was extremely easy to use and filters a bag of water quickly enough that we didn't really notice it... we used it every day on a recent 10 day family trip. It will remain a staple of our campsite!
Water treatment
Haven't had a chance to use butdure it will work fine. Bought as a second filter for backup
