Rated 5 out of 5 by from I dont smell like a campfire I just got my solo bonfire and already love this thing. 1st off its bigger than the pictures make it look. I was worried my family would be huddled around something kinda dinky. about the size a washing machine tub its perfect. Combustion is incredible. It really burns wood. the flow of air keeps big chunks from burning mostly and then petering out. Burns wood to coals quickly for s'mores or stack more in and get the fire up above the rim. Best of all it combusts so efficiently that I don't have to come in and immediately shower because I smell like a campfire. leaves nothing but ash behind when its done. Cant wait to use it all summer long.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best fire pit. Ever. I've had this pit now for 2 months. I've burned ~5 fires in it on the back patio. It is amazing. - They are not kidding when they say it is essentially smokeless; so you don't end up doused in campfire smell by the end of the time. - The flames are beautiful. - Its really really easy to start - all it takes is a couple sheets of newspaper, a few kindling sticks, and then your logs. Every time I've been able to do it in one light. The drawbacks that I have found are: - It's not weatherproof, so you need to put it in the garage or the handy protective carrying case. I love this thing!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Close to perfect, but rust a concern What everyone else says is true- once it heats up, there is very little smoke, it radiates lots of heat evenly in all directions, and leaves very little ash. No more moving your chair around the fire every time the wind shifts, no more coming home from camping with your lungs feeling like an ashtray. The carrying bag could be easier to use and carry, but it does the job. My primary concern is that the perforated interior bottom rusted heavily after first use, so I have doubts about longevity.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Rust and read the fine print While I very much like the innovation here, I believe everyone should be aware of two misleading issues regarding these stoves before purchasing and especially before using these stoves. First, rust, it will happen and while nearly all images of this stove show pristine shine on new metal, the stoves begin rusting almost immediately. After 4 uses for me. Especially the inside and the bottom grate. It may not seem like much to consider; however, once rust starts, it won't stop. The beginning is the end of this product. How long will yours last? Next, the site reads 100% Guarantee and Lifetime Guarantee. That should make everyone feel great; however, in the fine print it's just a 100% Guarantee your product will unbox like you expect it to. And the Lifetime Guarantee fine print reads "at our option". Once you use the product even once, the guarantee is over, no questions asked. Questions about the rust are answered with a stock response. I speak from experience with Solo customer service. I simply post this so it's more clear. After 4 uses and covering the product, my bottom grate shows rust as well as the inside walls.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Joe the Arborist I owned mine just under a year and have found the burning efficiency ( oct 2016 ) is great , just like the video that catches your eyes, Im an arborist so to really test this product I tried different woods . and of course they all work just fine I do recommend hard woods like acacia and oak these are common names used in California.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the bonfire I bought the bonfire a couple months ago and absolutely love it!!!! It is so much better than a traditional fire pit. You can sit it on the ground without it burning the grass and it's very easy to light. I also love that it reduces the smoke. My husband and I are full time RVers and we can't imagine having anything else. Definitely worth the money!!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for the home! Nothing but Ash! WE love our Bonfire! Easy to get going with all the air it is able to pull from the bottom. Awesome flames that come out of the holes at the top due to the secondary combustion. Leaves nothing but ash at the end. Does burn crazy hot so you have to keep feeding it wood as it will eat it up quick.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It does not get any better I have had the bonfire now for 4 months and take it with me all over. The storage/carry works great and holds up well. After at least 15 burns the stove is working as promised. Low smoke and a complete burn down to ash every time.

Questions & Answers

In some photos it looks silver , in other it has a copper tint. What color is it?

Asked by: Charlotte
It is silver and it is Stainless Steel. It does change color a little where it gets hot but I think it adds to the beauty of the pit. It is nature and should be that way. Looks neat!

What is the - Inside Diameter - of the Solo Bonfire? The written spec's are 14" tall and 19.5" diameter but those walls look like one inch on either side.

Asked by: CuriousGeorge
Internal dimensions are 17.7 inches in diameter and about 11 inches deep. The ring that seats on the top of the stove narrows the opening diameter to 15.75 inches.

I've read and watched several reviews of this but nowhere does anybody mention how much HEAT does it put out. Will it keep you warm sitting around it or is just some fancy smoke-less burner. I am comparing this to Snow Peaks portable campfire.

Just got off a 10 day camp trip. Brother in law brought the Solo Stove along for its first run and the heat was Aamazing!! So much so that we had to make our circle bigger because it was so hot! No Smoke!! Every family in our group is getting one for camping and backyard evenings outside!

I'm curious if the outside surface of the Solo Stove becomes hot to the touch as I imagine or if the cooler air serves as insulation directing all the heat directly upward. Anyone with experience able to give me some insight on this? Thanks!

Asked by: tbearwilson
The outside of the stove will be hot when in use. Do not touch any part of the Bonfire when in use.

This may be ridiculous to ask, but is the solo stove bonfire pit safe to use on an outdoor patio that is wood? Would it need a slate platform to rest on our could we place it directly on the wooden deck?

Asked by: Rumi Miles
While this fire pit is safe to use on a wood patio, we recommend setting it on top of some bricks or a heat resistant mat.
