Nice light jacket
This is an awesome light jacket to wear on those brisk cool days around the start of fall/spring. It is able to repel some light rain, but not much more. It is a comfortable fit and the material does not make much noise even though it looks like it would. One thing I don't like about Arc'teryx products are their small and oddly position pockets. That being said, the pockets on this jacket are on the small side. The inside has some soft felt material with the exception of the arms. If you put on this jacket while wearing a t-shirt your arms will feel the coldness of the material, which does not retain the warmth. So this is not meant to be used in colder weather.
Works for me
I bought this jacket and I been using it for about a month and a half mostly everyday, so far it has become my favorite jacket, quality is excellent, light, easy to wear and it doesn't make the noise that you get as in a plastic bag, I tried others and they look like plastic, this jacket is very flexible, feels good and it looks good, is perfect for me, pockets are placed secure and the zippers are tight as in not to let water in, perfect for active people. Easy to wash and to hang dry. I'm thin and got the small.
Amazingly Comfortable Jacket
I bought this jacket online, and received it a couple days ago. Immediately I was impressed with how comfortable the jacket was. The fit is a little on the larger side (IMO), but the cut of the jacket is very nice. The jacket looks really good in black (the one I ordered). I have not had it in rain yet, but it does a good job of blocking the wind and keeping me warm in mid-60 deg nights. I would definitely recommend this jacket for easy comfortable activities like walking, easy hiking, and even sailing in mild conditions.
Great Wind Shell
I'm 5'10", 175lbs, purchased size LG. I bought the Solano for a business trip to San Jose, CA in March 2017. When I arrived in San Jose there was a winter storm blowing in, the rain was light, but it was starting to get chilly. When I walked to dinner about a half mile away I was wearing a T-shirt, a long sleeve and the Solano. The wind picked up a bit and I could feel the cold through my jeans, but torso and arms were warm. After dinner I walked back to my hotel and the temp continued to drop and wind was steady. By the time I made it back to my hotel my ears were very cold, but the wind and temperature didn't bother me a bit. While watching the news that night it was reported that it had snowed in Golden Gate Park. I guess it had gotten pretty cold that day. The Solano gave me great protection all week long. The fit is amazingly like a fine hand-tailored suit. I've been using the Solano ever since without any regrets. I was hesitant when I saw the price tag, but that old adage - "You get what you pay for." is so true.
Great Light all around jacket with hood
Just warm enough for a cool evening, waterproof enough for a light rain, packable and Light. Breathable. Perfect for me. Fits true to size.
A jacket that you can wear anywhere
Durable, light weight jacket-that is great just to bum around town in! It is wind proof and fits very well!!!
Multipurpose
Have had this jackets about three weeks and worn it in light rain and cool mornings. Comfortable but a bit looser fit than the athletic cut I usually enjoy from Arctyrx
Nice layering jacket
I tend to collect Arc'teryx jackets because I feel they are well thought out and very functional. This jacket came with a nice price at REI as well and I have really enjoyed it. The Solano is cut to allow you to wear a lighter mid-layer like the Atom (without hood) if it is in the '30's and you just like to stay warm. Wearing it by itself works well to so you can use it as part of your outdoor activity gear giving lots of options. What this jacket provides is really good wind protection so that you won't get chilled. What it also provides is really good breathability so that you don't sweat due to the jacket material (it seems to provide a really good balance to temperature management. So don't get hung up on this "Gore" made product being like your Gortex rain jacket, as the Gore Windstopper breathes really well. I would not go running in this but I would certainly use it for hiking, backpacking, walking the dog ect. I have not tested it backpacking but hope to this summer.
Good lightweight option
Nice fit and looks great. Works well on cooler, not really cold days. Only negative I have found is a lack of a interior stash pocket. Other than that, a quality piece form Arc'teryx.
Let them try on their Christmas gifts!
purchased as gift for our daughter, who is large. BOTH jacket and pants fit, and she is thrilled. We got a good price besides, on high-quality gear.
