Arc'teryx  Squamish Jacket - Men's

I've had several Squamish jackets before and the addition of hand pockets on this version is a real step forwards. These could be further improved by stitching the base of the pocket to the main jacket thus creating useful internal drop pockets. The colour Stone Red is a bit questionable since it looks like Red that has been sun faded, however since it's the only bright option so we'll have to live with it. Overall great.

Pros: It is highly wind resistant, the sleeves are long enough to cover my wrists/hands with arms extended, it has pockets! (Unlike the hoodie version) which are high enough to access while wearing a hip belt, the 30d fabric is quiet. Cons: way overpriced for what it is. I bought mine with my REI dividend. The zippered hip pockets aren’t sewn to the jacket body. This oversight keeps the jacket from having internal drop pockets. I’m 5’9” ~135# and the medium size fits a bit baggy. The jacket lacks a chest snap to hold the chest closed with the jacket mostly unzipped.

After reading the other review about the differences I had to check for myself as I didn't notice a difference. I have both jacket and hoody in a small. The sleeves on the jacket are about one centimeter longer on the jacket, landing on my knuckles, whereas the hoody sleeves land juuust above my knuckles. The opening around the wrist is the same. In the front the length on both is the same, landing halfway down the fly of my jeans. In the back the jacket is one centimeter longer than the hoody. I have not had an issue with the zipper catching. Love the jacket overall, great to wear over a wool or highly breathable mid layer. Great for the when you don't want the big hood of the Squamish hoody and it has POCKETS! Two hand pockets where they normally are and a stowaway pocket inside one of the hand pockets. And the vitality colour is beautiful.

This is a very expensive wind breaker, nothing more. I was wearing this on the golf course this morning and got caught in a shower. Despite being described as water repellent, I can assure you it is not. At this price for what little it does, there are much better values available.

I love this jacket. I keep it in my trail bag for changes in weather conditions. It's nice and light and does what it says. Keeps the wind out. Only downside is something to secure the hood to stop in flapping about when not in use.

Perfect for what it is, light windshield jacket for hiking or around the town. Nice slim arms, well cut for broader shoulders. I own two. I am 195 5 11 and the L is good for me, slightly fitted.

Sleeves are to baggy, cuffs are a bit to big in diameter. So velcro straps on cuffs would be awesome. It’s not super breathable either.!

Good light jacket that folds up for easy travel in a pack.

I first want to say that I bought the Squamish Hoody in the green Pytheas color. A medium fits perfect and the color is awesome. I'm 5'10, 155lbs, and thin with a long torso and normal to slightly shorter arms. I liked it so much I wanted to get this jacket version without the hood in black. I also got the jacket in medium and it is the right fit because it fits my shoulders and chest just fine. But that's where the fun ends. For some reason, the sleeves were longer than the hoody, which in return also made them look baggier. The next issue was the wrist opening was larger. The wrist on the hoody fit perfect with plenty of room to stretch if needed. This jacket has the wrists more loose which slightly went over the back of my hand. And the worst part of this jacket is that it was much longer than the hoody... and as I mentioned, I have a long torso already. The back of the jacket went over the bottom of my rear end. This also in return made it seem slightly baggier in the stomach, whereas the chest was fitted. I felt like I was wearing a gown and it made me look like a stick figure. Not sure if it's a one-off quality issue, but I'm guessing not due to different areas being longer and wider. Would recommend Arc’teryx make the fit the same as the hoody... without the hood. I will be returning the jacket.
