It was awesome while it lasted.

I really liked this case. It mounted easily on my road bike, fit nicely in my hand and pocket. I would even go as far to say it looked really fashionable with its fake carbon fiber back and X design. The kickstand was just another bonus to add to the list of positive details. But in the end Topeak failed me in a big way. The whole purpose of casing a phone is to protect it. First drop and my iPhone’s screen is destroyed. This was not a bike ride drop at speed but a mere slip of the hand at 2.5 feet on to concrete. I really liked this case till today. I hope they can do better in the future.

Not too bad

I like the mounting hardware and that it can be tilted/rotated. Mine has a positive click as you seat the case on to the stem. Its light and the kickstand is useful. Only thing is the edges are sharp against my face, I knocked off the edge with a sanding block. Mine also split right at the headphone jack, but the phone is secure in the case. Its much better than many of the handlebar mounted ones and no silly silicon bands. I will still use mine and getting it on sale was a plus.

Functional but could be better

For what it is, the product works great. The mounting hardware included with the case was a snap to setup and feels solid. I picked this up for my iPhone 7 and the case fits the phone perfectly (all buttons line up and no problem with the port or speakers along the bottom). I only rate four stars because the case is not that rugged. This case will not protect your phone very well with a 3+ foot drop to concrete. Given the conditions this is going to be used the most, that's a surprising choice by the manufacturer. Don't get me wrong, when locked onto the bike the case sits very solid (just make sure it "snaps" into place). If it comes off the bike I have other problems to worry about. My concern is before/after a ride, where it might slip through my gloves/hands. I would not recommend this as an all day case, but good for the careful rider.

Works well on the bike but....

This case is the third case I've owned in the Ridecase line. I've had one of these cases for my iPhone 4s, 5s and now my iPhone 8. Pros: They just work. I also really like the kickstand. I never thought I would want a case with a kickstand but I use it every night with a clock app and it serves as my bedside clock. The different mounting options available should be able to accommodate just about anybody's needs. Neutrals: This is the first version of the Ridecase cases that I've owned that doesn't come with a rainproof cover. I messaged Topeak and they informed me that it is because the phone is already water resistant enough to not need the additional cover. Cons: The case does not rise above the face of the phone. If you place your phone (with the case) face down, you are placing it directly onto the face of the phone. I have a very thin screen protector and it rises above the case. The only other major complaint I have is that there is still a headphone cutout on the bottom. This needs to be eliminated because it is a very thin piece of plastic has has broken on mine twice. I returned my first one after it broke and it has since broken again. I do not feel that it will prevent the case from protecting my phone in the event of a drop but I simply don't like having a broken phone case after only a few days use. The final thing that I consider a con is that the case prevents wireless charging. This is why the cracked case is even more relevant. If you want to utilize the wireless charging option of the phone, then you need to remove the case, but removing the case very often will eventually lead to cracking the case at the weak spot. Again, this needs to be addressed. Overall, it is a good case and I am continuing to use it, but there are other options out there like SP connect that might not have as many drawbacks as the Topeak case. I would recommend this to a friend but only after mentioning all of the drawbacks.

Almost a solid product.

Where and how it attaches to the bike is genius but here’s where it all falls apart, the case is complete trash it won’t protect your phone for anything. I’m just using it as a strict ride and switch back to a protective case. If Topeak partnered with life proof and had a multifunction case I would be 100% on board because it is very secure on the bike. I’m sure the case will break at some point but it was a good attempt Topeak.

So s0 mount

When mounted on the handlebar of the bike securing the phone was shaky at best. I rode less then 100 feet on flat road when the phone fell off and cracked the screen. I was furious because I never had a cracked screen on my phone and this product seems to be the best. Yes the phone was snapped in place. After returning home I switch to stem mount and the mount seem to secure phone better.

Perfect for what we wanted

We were looking for an iPhone holder to use mapping on our bike rides. This holder fit the bill perfectly. It is well made and easy to mount. The "kickstand" back in the iPhone case was an added plus. I use it as my regular phone case now. Very convenient.

On/Off button does not work on iPhone 7

This is a great product, and a fantastic solution. However, the poor case implementation prevents the on/off button on the phone from working.
