The Absolute Best

I just purchased the AfterShokz Trekz head set and must say they are the absolute best I have ever owned. I participate in endurance events and use headsets for listening while training. While running or biking you can hear the world around you and enjoy your music too. The battery life is phenomenal, this is the first Bluetooth headset that I have owned that will not go dead after an hour or so. I purposely tried to run it down and at 4 hours it was still going strong. Come home, put in the earplugs that come with the headset, and enjoy your favorite music or television with no outside noises. If I had one complaint it would be they are uncomfortable to lay down with due to behind the neck design so, get up off that thing and get outside and have fun!

Not a good fit for anyone with a larger head/neck

I really wanted to love these headphones. The technology is very interesting and I couldn't believe the quality of the sound. My problem is I have a thicker neck/head and although I can get them to fit properly if I stand with perfect posture, any movement (angling head up for cycling or just turning my head from side to side) pulls the 'speaker' out of position and directly into my ear hole. Unfortunately I'm going to have to return these but will definitely keep my eye out for a possible 'XL' version from the manufacturer.

Awesome for trail running

I was super hesitant to get these because I was afraid they wouldn’t work well with sunglasses, and I ALWAYS wear sunglasses when I run. I finally decided to give them a try and I love them! At first I thought they felt too big, but it just took a few miles to get used to. I ran 20 miles with them the other day, while wearing sunglasses and also a visor. I found them to be comfortable the whole time and the sound quality was great! I love that I can hear my surroundings, too. I can hear bikers coming up behind me no problem and don’t have to pull them off to talk to other people on the trail.

Great addition to my cycling gear

I was curious about these ever since I'd first heard about them and the technology as I love to play music when I ride but never do because I don't like not being able to hear things around me. These fit the bill perfectly. After one ride I've fallen in love. They sit low enough on the neck not to interfere with the helmet and work with my Oakley glasses. The real surprise was I actually turned the music down a couple of times because I could hear the music fine at lower levels. If you're looking for audiophile sound quality, look elsewhere but if you want headphones that allow you to not be cut off from your surroundings, AfterShokz are the answer

Great idea but uncomfortable

These headphones are great for those that want or need to hear their surrounds. The sound is ok. Good enough for background while you workout, but if you want sound quality, I don't recommend. If you want good music quality and to be able to hear your surroundings, then I would say these are good. The comfort is not as great though. I got the upgrade (the Aeroplex) for my wife and these for myself, since I didn't want to pay so much, and wish I had forked out the cash for 2 Aeroplexes. Maybe it's because I have a big head, but they are uncomfortable for me and don't recommend them for that reason. I would say fork out the extra cash and get the better Aeroplex headphones.

Sounds good, but not very comfortable

I bought these for running based on a Runners World recommendation. They are pricey, but I was hoping the high price would give me a good durable pair of headphones. The sound is very good, and you can hear outside sounds well, which is necessary for safe running. I find them very heavy, very uncomfortable to wear, and impossible to wear with a hat or headband for cold weather running. So they are quite useless from November to March, which is a lot of time given their price. So I would not recommend them unless all of your running is in mild weather.

Light, Comfortable, excellent sound, unique

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Very comfortable and lightweight, can be worn all day without discomfort. Great sound that does not block outside sound so you can hear others or important information you might otherwise would have missed and doesn’t leave one feeling overstimulated like others. Good for work, exercise and even has noise blocking setting to be used with earplugs. Can be linked to two different devices with multi pair function. Solidly designed and easily portable. Overall a fantastic pair of headphones and a bone conducting experience everyone should try.

Hear your music/podcast AND your surroundings

This is the perfect cordless, bluetooth headphone set if you want to hear what's happening around you in addition to your tunes. These are great for anyone who does not like earbuds in their ear canals, and they do not even cover your ears like the on-ear models. The bone conduction method of delivering sound to your inner ear is no joke, as demonstrated by improved sound quality when you plug your ears. A set of earplugs is included to use for that purpose if you are in a safe environment where you do not need to hear your surroundings.

Questionable build quality

My second pair (after warranty replacement) has just failed like the first did. The narrow part that curves over the ear is prone to breaking. I used them daily and was careful when putting on and taking off, but they still broke. However, overall I think they're a great idea. The sound quality isn't the best, but I love them not being actually in my ears (my ears get irritated by in-ear buds). If you're okay with these lasting a year (like both my pairs) and see it as a consumable they may work for you. I'll be trying some other brands as I want something that lasts a bit longer.

Best, most comfortable workout headphone.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These Aftershokz headphones are great, I originally got them for my wife, but confess that we now share them. My wife loves to run, and has a hard time with in-ear-buds and over-the-ear headphones, they always seem to move or get really sweaty, so when I saw these I thought they’d be worth a try. At first, they are a little strange, but you very quickly get used to them. The best part of these headphones for me is that they don’t shift, not even when I’m out doing yard work, digging, mowing, weeding, etc. My wife loves them for running, again they stay where they are supposed to and are very light and comfortable. We live in Louisiana where it gets very hot and humid, so these headphones are a lot more pleasant to wear than ones that cover or go in your ear, as they don’t get sweaty. As far as sound quality goes, there are pretty good, they aren’t going to replace my big over-ear headphones, they are for different purposes and the Aftershokz are perfect for being active. To get the most out of headphones you get a pair of reusable earplugs in a small hard plastic case (very nice little touch) to cut out external noise, personally, I prefer not to use them and have a little more situational awareness. In the box, you get the headphones, a soft case for the headphones, USB-C charger cable, reusable earplugs in a small hard plastic case, warranty card (2-years), user manual, Bluetooth pairing card, and another bit of paper. Even though the user manual is very comprehensive I haven’t needed to look at it once, they are easy to set up and functions are intuitive. Pros: -Comfortable -Light -Sweat-resistant -Don’t move around -Sound good -2-year warranty -Easy to use -Situational awareness Cond: -Base won’t blow you away I highly recommend these to anyone who likes to listen to music while active. I’ve tried so many other options and these are hands down what I go for now when needing completely free movement, and they are so much more comfortable in the heat.
