Best solution for rappel and belay backup
This product is specifically designed as a prusik or autoblock backup for rappeling and belaying. It is made of a type of high strength fiber capable of taking extreme temperatures. It is superior to using a piece of cordalette or sewn runner as a prusik/autoblock due to its ability to take the friction of rappel without melting like nylon or spectra fibers. It also grips wet ropes better than cord or runners due to having a looser braid on the sheath. There is also no bulky knot to get in the way. Typical length for an autoblock (when clipped into the leg loop) is 12-14", so 13.5" is perfect. If you plan on using it mostly in prusik mode, then order the longer length and you can always shorten it with an overhand knot when clipping into the leg loop of your harness. Note: This is not designed to be used as a runner (which normally has a strength rating of 22kN). Overall, very worthwhile product and a great safety add to the rappel system.
Slides easily when loaded, 13.5' is perfect.
Works best as an klemheist or prussick. Slides easily when loaded, 13.5' is perfect. Aramid fibers work well for abrasion resistance, and are heat resistant.
Quick and Easy
Using a hollow block as an auto block makes setting up a rappel much easier and much more clean because it's light, it's the perfect length, and there's no tails or knots hanging out. I love it!
Best Prusik material there is
I used my buddy’s HollowBlock while climbing some multi-pitch with him and really appreciated how well it worked as a friction knot when rappelling. When tying an autoblock knot for rappels, I’ve found that three turns around the ropes works perfect for me.
overpriced but useful
it's a useful dedicated cordelette to build auto blockers. but it's way way overpriced
Excellent for hauling!
Very inexpensive piece of kit for its capabilities. Highly recommended!
