Rated 5 out of 5 by from Image stabilization is impressive. I have taken my hero 5 on several adventures already and so far, I am very impressed with the camera. It is leagues ahead of the hero 3+ I had been using before and the image stabilization in the camera might be better than my $800 slr. Everything about the camera just seems to work in the way that you want it to, the one button record is nice and the menus are incredibly easy to navigate. I am looking forward to trying out the timelapse video function on my next trip. I had been thinking about switching to other action cameras recently, but the new GoPro won me over and every time I use it I find a new thing I like about it. I run a production company in my free time and had been thinking about getting a dji mavic, but now I am much more interested in the karma because I really like the idea of having my next drone have the hero 5 camera on it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Improvement to the Hero4 Silver/Black This is a significant upgrade to what I had before (Hero4 Silver). The Hero5 is basically now a combination of the Hero4 Silver and Black. One thing that's definitely improved is the body of the GoPro itself. YOU DON'T NEED A HARD CASE! You can use the Hero5 as if it was like the Session. No more hassle of taking the GoPro in/out of the case. Use it on the fly. Another new feature is the voice control. Very useful and you don't want to detach the GoPro in between your adventures; hiking, biking, rafting, etc. The touchscreen is an improvement, in my opinion. It's more user friendly than before. Navigation is easy, but sometimes unresponsive. I personally would choose to use my GoPro app on my smartphone to navigate and change settings if I need to. Plus, it's better than using the touchscreen on the GoPro since I feel it kills your batteries. Speaking of battery life, it's an improvement from the the Hero4 if you turn off basically all the features (voice control, wifi, touch screen, beep sound, etc.). Probably add an additional 30-45mins. The only downside is majority of the Hero4 accessories (battery, case, frame etc.) are not compatible with the Hero5. I'm not sure if the smart remote is compatible, but if it is, that's a win. Overall, I think this is an improvement. If you already own a GoPro Hero4 Silver or Black, it may or may not be worth the upgrade; depending on you preference. If you're new action sports cam and want durability and performance, I would recommend it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from GoPro Hero 5 Best GoPro out there! Works the best with a 3U micro SD card. Fast storage, easy to roll into the next video or photo!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product My previous GoPro is Hero3+, so Hero5 is definitely an upgrade. The most useful things are touch screen and video stabilization. Have not tried voice control yet, but really hope it works as advertised. Overall it is a great product. The only weak spot in this camera is battery life. In my case, fully charged battery lasts about two hours in winter conditions with wifi on.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great UI and shots. Battery life is short. Awesome device! Love using the video and picture mode simultaneously. The candid shots are actually really fun! Only thing I would say is that the battery life at 1080P is only about 90 minutes. That was surprising - but I'm going to try to tweak the photo mode to see if that helps.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very Disappointed I upgraded my GoPro Hero Silver to the GoPro Hero 5 Black in January and when I took the camera for a test run on an elk hunt, the camera displayed the message "SD ERROR." So, I researched the issue and found out that many other Hero 5 owners are experiencing the same problem. I understand there is an update for the Hero 5, which is nearly impossible to download (i.e does not work through Capture app or Quik app). This whole process of trying to get the SD to function properly has been extremely frustrating. The SD card error flaw in this camera has cost me the loss of priceless footage out in the field. The camera would work after a factory reset, and after about the first 10 minutes of footage, it would stop recording and display "SD ERROR". This error has also cost me quite monetarily as I have bought two different SD cards thinking that it was a faulty SD card. I am not bad mouthing GoPro because I love my Hero 4 Silver; however, if you are thinking of buying the Hero 5 black, please either wait or just buy the Hero 4 Silver. I may have just received a faulty camera and all of these positive reviews received functional units. My advice is to wait on the Hero 5, its not worth your headache and frustration.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from First go pro The product I like it. Waterproof since the beginning that is really nice. Also the auto estabilization. The voice ocomands don't really work well for me not my group, and you have to say it really loudly when you are holding a selfie stick or on top of the helmet. The go pro system is a little tricky to work with if you have no experience, to transfer the edits to you main PC may be a little bit of a pain. But the rest is really good. I loved that you click once and it starts recording automatically and on the second click it shuts off. Saves lots of battery

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simplest yet They made it a little easier to take it and film. I am not sure how the voice activated functions will work in real life but it is worth a try. Batteries are still a weakness.

The waterproof case for HERO4 makes a conversation, really one sided while kayaking. The microphones on HERO5 look covered by the frame. How much better is the audio in real life?

Asked by: Doug1971
The audio is noticeably improved and one of the great upsides to the new HERO5 product line.
