Rated 4 out of 5 by from Where's the Gore-Tex? First let me start by saying that I love my all leather North Face boots. They support my weak ankles, my feet rarely get tired, and they need very little break in time. That said, I recently hiked the 100 Mile Wilderness which is a grueling hike of roots, rocks and black mud/swamps. The first day out with my new, lighter boots was a short 8 miles. Within an hour I ended up slipping off a rock into some of that wonderful black mud. The mud went just past the leather toe and onto the mesh which soaked my foot. (And it was only in the mud for a split second!). Did my pair of boots miss the Gore-tex bath? My old boots rarely let in any water and I was wicked disappointed that there seemed to be no waterproofing on my Hedgehogs. As a matter of fact, the next 10 days were an exercise in keeping my feet from hitting any puddles. Love the structural comfort, don't like the wet toes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best hiking shoes I've ever had! I am in a profession that involves a ton of walking outdoors and I am also an avid hiker. These boots are great for both occasions. They are extremely comfortable and provide strong stability for long use. Not only do they feel great, they look great too. I have gotten lots of compliments every time that I wear them. The grip on the bottom is awesome and I have no problems slipping or sliding while wearing these. I can tell these are going to last me a long time, and when they do bite the dust I will go back to these boots without a doubt. I have worn many different brands and these definitely stand out the most. Would recommend 110%

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One of my best purchases - I work in the tree industry and find these boots to be amazingly comfortable and durable. The ankle support is terrific and the fit is excellent. I have depended upon them to get me through soggy days as well as days with extreme heat. The breathability coupled with the waterproofing is unbeatable. The work I do involves all sorts of surfaces, sometimes sketchy, and I trust my boots to take care of me every day.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality and comfort I have not had these boots that long, but I really enjoy these boots so far. My brother who was heavily into backpacking in the early seventies would always buy The North Face products saying that they were the best you can buy. I got into Hiking not to long ago and wanted a good hiking boot so I looked into their boots as well as a couple other brands. I felt that these boots fitted and conformed to my foot better than the other brands. I inatially bought these boots because we were going to Zion NP, we hiked Angels Landing and a couple of other smaller hikes and the boots preformed well.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Heel Slip I returned these as the heel slip was too much for me, regardless of how I tied them (including the 'heel lock'). I've learned the hard way how terrible heel slip is on the trail and trusted my gut that these boots were not for my feet. They toe box was a little too narrow for my preference as well. I wear size 9 shoes, 9.5-10 in boots/athletics. Ordered a 9.5 - length was good, but toe too narrow and heel too wide for my average width feet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from These shoes are so comfy! These shoes are soooo comfy. I had to change the size from 7.0 to 7.5 because they felt half size to small. 7.5 is better for me (normally I'm wearing shoes with 24cm insert so I thought that 7.0 would work great but actually they didn't - my big toe was touching the end of the shoe even with really thin sock). So even if they're saying that they are true to the size for me it didn't work. The quality of them is really good.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love these boots! Took my first hike with these over the weekend on a muddy trail. Feet stayed dry and comfy! The only complaint I have is the insoles. There is not enough cushion for longer hikes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My feet have been dry & comfortable! I've worn these on several hiking trips (nothing crazy, just some hills in Scotland/England) last one was a 9 mile trek. I found them to be very comfortable from the start, apart from a bit of pressure on one of my ankle bones. I started wearing thicker socks with them and that helped. I've never completely checked how waterproof they are, but I've scrambled over a few puddles and never felt my feet get wet, so that's promising.

Questions & Answers

I'm looking for my first pair of hiking boots for day hikes. I want them as waterproof as possible...will these keep my feet dry as long as water doesn't go above the top of the boot? Or will it leak through the mesh?

Asked by: Annie
It's possible that water could permeate the mesh panels.

Hi, arethis boots good for very warm/hot weather? Do they breath well? How I see the arc support. I have long narrow feet. Size 11 how does the width run? Thanks!

Asked by: Funinpr
These boots have a breathable membrane for excellent moisture management while hiking in warmer temperatures. Additionally, they have moderate arch support and a medium width that is true to size heel to toe.
