Bought this sleeping bag for car camping. I previously had a mummy style bag, that felt too confined for me. This seemed like a good deal for the price. The description said it was for people up to 6ft 6in. Compared to the REI long size bags it looked about the same height. Used it camping. It was warm enough, but I would say there is no way someone 6ft 6in would be comfortable in this. I am 6ft 3in and with my feet at the bottom of the bag, the top came to just at shoulders. Maybe a little lower.
I purchased this sleeping bag at the end of May to use on my camping trip in the Sequoias. Weather reports stated temperatures would drop down to 30-27 degrees, & so I needed a new sleeping bag to handle the low temperatures. It worked great! I wasn't shopping for backpacking so the weight didn't concern me & it did what I needed it to do... KEEP ME WARM.
This bag is a good quality for the price. The stuff sack is not too small, I had no issue by myself getting it out and back in in about a minute. The trick is not to roll the sleeping bag up and try to put it in. It is called a "Stuff" sack for a reason... Stuff it in there piece by piece and pack it in like intended and there are no issues. I have encountered way smaller stuff sacks than this one for a bag.
I bought this sleeping bag to replace an old, discount bag from the nineties. The soft, felt-like lining is luxurious. My first use was for sleeping on an air mattress in an unfurnished, barely-heated house in the middle of winter. This bag passed with flying colors! I was warm and comfortable for both nights of the trip and look forward to using it again. I like it so much that I bought a second one for my wife for our next camping trip.
The sleeping bag itself is very nice and the fleece lining provided a warm and comfortable sleep. The stuff sack on the other hand was way too small. It literally took two people to remove the bag from the sack it was so tight. I tried for 15 minutes to get the bag back into the sack with no success. If I did not like the bag so much I would probably return it. I will most likely end up buying a cinch strap and using that.
I bought this great sleeping bag to attend the REI ladies camping trip last weekend. The trip was great, by the way! Every sleeping bag I looked at had mostly good reviews and some terrible reviews, so I was hesitant. I know I can trust the Kelty brand, and I knew the weather would be more like 50 degrees rather than 30 degrees, so I figured it would be great. I will say the key is probably more in what is below your sleeping bag. You MUST have a sleeping pad with a good R value rating so that your body is insulated from the Earth's cool temps. I had a self inflating pad with R 5.8 value, this sleeping bag, and 1 medium weight blanket on top of it. I was so cozy I wished I could stay another night. I also love the colors, and the inside feels like a cozy flannel shirt. Comes with bag, and if you roll the sleeping bag up tightly, it fits back in just fine. Happy camping!
After reading all the reviews I was expecting major issues repacking this bag. I bought 2 and after use had absolutely no issues putting in the stuff sack. Literally stuffed one in and folded/rolled the other and both went into the bag with ease. My only issue with this bag is that after washing, the fluff in one got all bunched up. I will be contacting REI about a replacement since this bag is new and only used one time. It did keep us warm, and is VERY comfortable to sleep in.
First have been camping almost 40 years now, from Canada and Maine, grand canyon , and lots of places in Oregon and right here in Cali. After over a dozen from old school Colman and kelity back in the 70's ( I'm pushing 63 now) even I'm impressed, and that aint easy. Lighter and smaller than most . Can be used as a pack in on a frame but not as light or as small as a 300.00 all down bag,of course, but nice smaller stuff sack than you think. Has dual zippers for " split" sleeping ( open part way or venting for warmer nights or double zip bags together. super p premium inside cotton like liner like old school larger Coleman have but without the weight or the bulk and double pull zippers inside and out with pull strings which is a nice touch for "quick zip" nights as well, Nice inside neon green almost Indian inspired pattern ( old school touch and cotton like feel) You swear that this bag cost about 100.00 bucks but at 40.00 right now, buy a extra one for that " someone special" or yourself as a back up. Cozy at 40 -30 still because diabetics like me, have sensitive feet. Not a wide bag but std size in stores, is tall since I'm 6'1" so that's nice under 80.00 range. Tried 4 other bags this week and this one is THE WINNER, BELOW 100.00 by far. There almost sold out in all my stores and on line, so now you know why...
Cmaping made better! Love this bag--the quilting on the inside is super soft and makes it feel like you are in a real bed. Also loved going back to a rectangle bag and the ease and space to move about inside the bag!
It's a Great sleeping, very comfortable, worked very well even during temperatures around 32.
