I've been climbing in Scarpa Force Vs for about 2 years at this point and wanted a shoe that was more precise on climbs where edging and footwork really matters. The Scarpas are very comfortable and truly a great all day shoe, but felt sloppy on microedges. I tried these at my climbing gym and was impressed. The rubber is very tactile and tacky on edges that I could not feel as well in my old shoes. The three velcro strap system is great for getting a precise fit to your foot and the love bump that Evolv has built in really is great for those pointed toe moves. As other reviews state, I feel that they take a climb or two to feel comfortable for the day and may find myself having some reservations bringing these as an all day climb kind of shoe. For someone looking to upgrade to something slightly more aggressive and looking for better control, I highly recommend giving them a try!
I've had these shoes for a while now and have to say they are a welcome upgrade. I had the Scarpa Helix for about a year and wanted something a bit more aggressive but not toe curling as I am not big into bouldering, I prefer lead and top rope. These puppies took a bit to break in. They were rough the first day or two and decided to try a .5 size larger but after an hour climb in the larger size they got sloppy really quickly and could not edge at all. To this day they take a climb or two to warm up but once they do they are amazing. (Granted I don't go as much as I used to and feet aren't in the best climbing shoe shape any longer) Super sticky, firm where they need to be flex where they need to as well. The three loop closure works well too because you can tailor the fit to your foot. AAAANNNNDDDD no one has them! Its not like the common shoes that you walk into the gym that everyone has i.e. Mythos, The green beginner shoes (Tarantula they translate to), even the Helix I had now are quite common. If you are looking for a shoe that is slightly more aggressive that you can wear for extended periods of time then look no further!
I have had these for a little while, came off of a pair of Luchadors. I like these shoes as they fit my foot well, though if you have a higher heel bump (where you Achilles anchors?) these can be a bit uncomfortable after longer periods. I boulder indoors and outdoors, sport, and a tiny bit of trad. I wouldn't wear these for extended periods, My feet get too sore but that goes for any semi or aggressive shoe. All in all I like them, rubber is nice and the closure/ tongue system is very comfortable!! Big upgrade from the luchadors!
