Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good for short rides, but not great for long ones I wore these liner shorts under yoga capris for a few rides - short neighborhood jaunts, a 45-minute spin session, and a long 50-mile rail trail ride. It fit as expected, no issues with pinching waistbands or chamois out of place, and was comfortable under my capris. The liners were comfy for short rides, held up in a spin class, but did not offer sufficient padding for my long ride. I would not recommend these for touring or distance riders. Just to compare, I wore other bike shorts for my second day of long-riding and instantly felt the difference.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great first pair of biking shorts I have never used padded compression shorts before simply because I didn't think they would make that big of a difference, I was wrong. After long bike rides I was significantly less sore than when not wearing padded shorts. The best thing about these shorts is that I didn't notice them at all when I was riding. They didn't ride up, they were breathable, and very discreet under other clothes. Overall I was extremely happy with this product and haven't biked without them since I received them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So comfortable you'll forget you're wearing them I'm usually pretty quick to change out of my bike shorts when I'm done with a ride but these liners are so comfortable I forget that I'm wearing them. The material is a soft mesh that hugs my form perfectly without being too tight. This is important so that the actual padded section fits exactly where I want it without constricting me elsewhere. (I am a petite, athletic build - 5' - and the XS fit perfectly.) REI did a particularly great job with a barely-there elastic waist that doesn't dig in, and by using the same material on cuffs as they do on the main part of the shorts. Some of my other biking shorts have a rubber lining that is supposed to keep them in place but these REI shorts stay in place just as well and because the material is so soft and light (i.e., no rubber), it feels like I am wearing air. Also, because I have some pretty big hamstrings sometimes bike shorts that don't use the rubbery elastic can gape open at the bottom. I loved that these ones had that super comfy cuff at the bottom but still no gaps. The shorts also have two subtle pockets, one on each thigh that easily fits my Samsung Galaxy with a case on it. I don't use the pockets while riding because I have shell shorts on over them but I really like having the option to slip in some tissues or an energy bar or even some padding. The actual padding in the seat of the shorts is substantial but slightly thinner than the other pairs of shorts I mountain bike in, which helps with the super comfortable lighter-than-air feel, while giving me the padding I need. I have been mountain biking for a couple of decades now in a variety of shorts brands. These are now at the top of my list of favorite shorts because they are crazy comfortable and perfect for the upcoming summer heat. I've taken them out for several mountain bike rides varying around 6-11 miles each time, with an average climb of 1,000 - 2,000 feet, and they've been terrific. I have also washed and dried them (on low) in the dryer with no problems. I wear them under a pair of REI shell shorts that I also highly recommend (the DRT Mountain Shell shorts).

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great for long rides! These liner shorts are perfect for long rides. The wide bands on the legs keep the short in place, they do not creep up. The padding is more than ample. These shorts have more padding between the legs than I am used to. This was wonderful and comfortable while on the saddle but not quite as comfortable while walking. The liner fits nicely under shorts or skirts without having the padding "stick out". I would highly recommend these for anyone seeking comfort on the saddle. I am 5'4" and 123lbs and the size small fits perfectly. A very good value!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Too small for big thighs They ride up inside legs. Wish they made a more forgiving size for women with curvy legs and behind.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Lightweight comfortable shorts! These liners are super light and quick drying. They were easy to pull up and down, even when sweaty. The wide band around the bottom of each leg is snug and didn't move much while riding, but also didn't leave an elastic mark after a few hours wearing the shorts. The material is light and mesh-like, and fits well under other shorts without feeling bunchy. I thought that the paddling seemed to be situated more forward than other bike shorts that I own, perhaps for a more aggressive pedaling position. I didn't notice it much when riding, but when I was walking around I felt that the front padding was wider than it needed to be and rubbed against the inside of my thighs. I wear an XL and the shorts fit well and were a good length. I will most likely switch from wearing integrated mountain biking shorts to these liners with athletic shorts, especially in the summer when it is hot. The padding stays closer to my body in these liners and it is just the right thickness to get the job done but doesn't feel like a diaper.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Hidden Champion I used the Mesh Padded Liner Shorts under my regular/mountainbike shorts for added comfort. The pad is not too thick, so I wouldn't recommend it for extended rides, but they're perfect for shorter jaunts or rides that ask for high flexibility in movement, such as mountainbiking. I absolutely loved the fit and the fact that it comes with small storage pockets to keep your essentials safe while riding.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great fit The liner shorts seem a little stiff. Used them for mountain biking. Liked the fit.
