Skewer Works Poorly
I purchased these mounts for my Toyota Pickup. Installation on the front bed rack was easy. However, I discovered that the tolerance between getting the quick release closed tight and not being able to close it was extremely small--less than an 1/8 turn of the adjusting nut. Worse, the lock can be easily defeated by simply twisting the quick release handle back and forth until it loosens. I have since replaced the skewers with Yakima's which are easier to close and and designed so as to not loosen when the locked handle is twisted back and forth.
Great Product
Super easy to install, clamps nicely to my bike, and works great for my 2005 Toyota Tacoma without having to drill through the truck bed like many other bike mounts.
Truck bed rail hitch bike mount
I have used two of these excellent mounts on two road bikes for over eight years on a 05 Tacoma Off-Road and they have standed the test of time. Installation is quick and easy from the truck bed railing to mounting the bike forks to the hitch mounts. Over time, the skewer can get a little tight when securing and tightening, but a little WD-40 always helps. With any bike transporting needs, I only trust Rocky Mounts hands down. In my opinion, they are the best in the business. Thanks Rocky Mounts!
Seems great, if I ever get it!
Seems like a great product based on all the other reviews I’ve read. For some reason it’s taking a very long time to get the item to my local REI store. I made my purchase on June 19. Two or three days later I got an email saying the item was in the co-op and would arrive July 2. That’s 13 days later. When I placed the original order I was lead to believe the product was already in stock at my local REI. This is why I chose LOCAL PICKUP. I was somewhat frustrated when I realized it was not actually their I decided to give my local REI a call. The young lady I spoke with was great, and she apologized for the delay in my item and explains that this was something they are trying to resolve as many online orders with local pickup are having the same issue.
