Buy This Light!
As someone who has used several generations of bike lights over the last 35 years, often on country roads in total darkness, I find this tail light to be astonishing. It's extremely lightweight and compact, USB rechargeable, AND bright enough to be easily seen by cars in full sun.
My standard test for comparing tail lights is to point them at the ceiling and see how visible the reflected light is. Some of the really cheap ones don't even show up. This light is SO bright that I have to turn away from the reflected light after only a few seconds. It's piercing.
After 4 riders in my bike club were hit by cars in separate accidents, our club started promoting the use of head lights and tail lights for increased visibility on ALL day time rides. I consider this light to be an ESSENTIAL SAFETY DEVICE and the minimum amount of visibility that I want to have when out on the open road.
Worth every penny!

This has excellent daytime visibility.
I am kind of a bike light junkie. This would be my 3rd Hotshot purchased as the model increased in lumens. I had started running daytime flashing and this met the criteria for definite visibility during daylight; very bright! The rubber cover pulled apart with the first time uncovering the usb port. The rubber tab is not attached as well as in the previous lights I had bought. I was not disappointed it happened, because I don't like fiddling with the darn covers and just remove them anyways. The button to increase / decrease intensity is a little funky to get a feel that a person is actually depressing it.

Super bright light
I'm a year round bike commuter, I'm not easy on my gear. I used the original HotShot for 3 years and decided to let myself upgrade. This lens is one of the brightest I have seen, good enough for day or night. Compared to the original HotShot the beam is a bit wider, which is nice because the original was very directional. I've used this in rain, snow, well below freezing temps and it's worked perfectly. Very happy with this light.

I was riding to work one day, and had a car slow down as it passed me, and the driver yelled out the window thanking me for having such a good light and being visible.

Best In Class. Easy 5 Star Rear Light.
A few weeks ago, I was cycling down Broadway in Santa Monica, CA and this guy on a road bike past me with a really bright flashing rear light. I caught up to him at the red light and asked him about it. He said that REI Santa Monica told him that was the brightest tail light ever so he got it. He took off and raced ahead. He got blocks and blocks ahead of me, but I could still see his flashing tail light in the day no matter how far ahead he got!
I bought one immediately. I already owned 4 other tail lights but I had to have this one.
It's super super light, USB charges quick, clips on to everything, and has multiple settings and paces. Best of all--it has a daylight strobe so you are seen during the day when most ride.
I never leave home without it now.
Get it! It's the best!
Get as a gift for people you care about that ride too.

Excellent Bike Tail Light!
The Cygolite Hotshot Tail Light is an excellent accessory for my bike.
It is easy to mount and remove, but very secure when on the bike (even on Gravel Roads) It is very bright, so the light is visible day or night. Great added safety when Biking on the road.I also like that the light is rechargeable.
