Hey! Previous review labeled “Misleading”

In response to a previous review labeled “Misleading”. These sleeves do exactly what they are designs to do, which is provide light protection for light trail riding. If you had any idea what you were talking about, or trail riding in general, you would have purchased the Raid knee pads. I own both and they both serve they’re purposes perfectly. Only a 20 year road rider(roadie) would bash these for not being rated for downhill or jumping. TLD produces excellent products, so do your research before throwing a manufacture under the bus because of your ignorance. As for everyone else, these will serve you well! Shred on!

So I've found this issue across all brands of knee pads (these ones I own; G form, Dakine). Here's the thing: my thighs are 21 inches (yes that's right) and my calves are 14 inches, NONE OF THESE FIT MY SIZE. They either are way too tight around my thigh or too loose around my calves. I usually just opt for the tighter pair but c'mon! ALMOST ALL MY OTHER FEMALE TEAMATES HAVE THE SAME ISSUE. Fix these please!

thin cross country knee pads

If Troy lee would use like any other material for the wrap around part for the pad these would be a banger but there super hot luckily I got them during winter but my DH knee pads run cooler than these. Anyways I’ve crashed in them and they protected but don’t take these to the park and only use them for average trail stuff so like blues and greens if all you ride is double blacks get something more substantial these are the bare minimum in padding so do not think they are for DH these are for the people who don’t were knee pads at all and want just a little protection for washing out

Great for trail riding, don't push it though

These are wonderful for trail riding, even up to intense trail riding. I've crashed plenty doing just that, and these do their job wonderfully, no knee injuries to date. But do not expect them to protect past that. They are not meant for DH, and I have crashed riding DH with these on and still got some road rash underneath them, though otherwise largely unharmed. Definetly worth it though, they are very breathable, light, and offer plenty of crash protection, just know their intended use. DH needs heavier and thicker pads with more protection, just be aware. Overall great, highly recommend.

Excellent knee pads

I wear these knee pads every time I mountain bike. When/if I fall, they are a lifesaver! I’ve had a few bad falls without knee pads before, and I don’t want to risk further injury. These are comfortable, they stay in place, and they offer good lightweight protection. They also keep your knees warm on cold days! I only wish they came in S/M, because the XS/S is a bit tight. They do stretch out a little over time, though.

Warm but great xc protection

I find this to be great XC riding protection with our cheese grater lava in Central Oregon. A bit warm on a hot day, but with our low desert humidity, I haven't had a problem with them getting soggy from sweat. If you think of the "wrap" as being abrasion protection, the thickness doesn't seem bad. I had to special order these as the only brand stocked at the Bend REI was irritating my knees just trying them on in the store. The Troy Lee Speed knee protection is by far the most comfortable knee pads I have ever worn and they stay solidly in place. They have the impact stiffening material which I haven't fully tested yet, but it looks good on paper. The clerk at the store said his disintegrated after a ride or two. So far with a couple of rides, I can't imagine these falling apart. The brand they carried looked flimsy and was uncomfortable. Dinged one star because they are pretty warm above 80degF.

Troy Lee Designed a nice light knee pad

Protection is a great idea for anyone riding a mountain bike no matter how rowdy or mellow you ride. When it comes to knee pads, these fit the bill for my level of riding. I just wish they fit better on my knees. Don’t get me wrong, they fit pretty well but feel loose at times. For the most part, they fit “four star” fine. To be honest, I have not had to “test” them but I’m sure the day will come. If they stay put on that day and protect me from damage to my knee, then I’ll change my rating to a 5. I I’ll be wearing them tomorrow so we’ll wait and see. For the money, these are nice. They look great too as far as protection gear.

sizing wayyyy off

My thigh circumference is 21” and the sizing says the largest size goes to 19.5. Bought them thinking I could squeeze and BAM- they were so huge they fell down to my ankles from my thighs when I stood up straight... the sizing is so far off. Will be returning.

Great for trail use

I was using the heavier TLD Raid knee pads for a while, but they got too hot while trail riding. These are perfect for a bit of protection on the trail. These are light and fairly breathable, and they don't slip when I have them on. Highly recommended!

All day comfort at the expense of protection

Keeping in mind that this kneepads are designed more for comfort than protection, these are excellent. They won't protect a full-throttle downhill impact with a rock, but will definitely protect from washouts and smaller impacts. In short, these are a more cross country type of kneepad.
