Glad I picked this headlamp up at a sale price... Pretty light and very bright! Great for finding your way to camp through the dark. Light beam it's pretty uniform and it can reach a pretty long distance. The red light is pretty handy when camping with other people or for finding stuff in your tent without bothering other campers... The red flash mode can also be helpful in emergency situations. Works on both regular and rechargeable AAA batteries and it's also compatible with Petzl Core battery pack so you can recharge it from your power pack or solar panel. Pretty easy to switch between red and white light modes... Petzl makes the best headlamps so I wasn't surprised to find so many features in a light and affordable headlamp. Pretty nice headlamp over all...
Petzl recently updated the Tactikka line for 2017, and this is the result of those improvements. No flip-up filters are needed to get to red secondary lighting, lithium batteries are now accepted, there is a built-in emergency whistle, and overall white light output has been increased to 200 lumens (max) thanks to advances in LED technology. Because this is the basic model Tactikka headlamp, the light output is not regulated, so it's best to use rechargeable NiMH batteries -- Eneloop cells are great for this duty. If you own the previous version of the Tactikka, one downside of the new model is that you lose the ability to strobe white light. Tip: To get to red light mode directly from off, press and hold the power button down for 2-3 seconds. Overall, this is a good upgrade and gives you a quality headlamp at a steal of a price!
Fits well, durable and easy to operate. Highly recommended.
