Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lite up our kitchen I have several goal zero lights, the mini lantern, the Torch 250 flashlight and the 400 Lantern; I'm a huge fan of these products. I've taken them all over the world, in places where there's no electricity and gave them as gifts to help light up homes and schools. Recently during a power outage in my home, the 400 lantern kept my kitchen well lit, so I could make dinner, then it lasted until the power came back on...for about 5 hours it kept us out of the dark. I also used an Eco Lantern by Weatherrite during the blackout, it quite after about 3 hrs, even with cranking it up it would only last several minutes. I highly recommend the 400 Lantern and the 250 Flashlight.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Full Featured These lanterns are choked full of features. I would recommend these. The lantern features themselves are excellent then add on the USB hub and charging by sun, USB and a hand crank you have a lantern that is second to none. Cons: it seems the internal bettieries are not user replaceable or at least it is not document as user replaceable. The on board hanging hook/handle has slid out on me seems like there should be more tension to keep it in place. None of these Cons are crictal to me so I would buy this lantern again.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from excellent- but broke slightly in 5 months This thing saved my life in the peace corps. It has a big battery that will last you a long time and the outlet was immensely helpful when living more or less off the grid. The hand crank will give you enough juice to run the lantern, but not to charge a device. However, within 5 months the off/in knob broke. Even when the knob is fully in the off position, the lantern SOMETIMES still comes on and off. When it decides to come on, it emits dim light and there's no way to turn it off. This leads to a slow attrition of the battery and can impede your sleep if you like a totally dark environment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from We love these lanterns! My husband and I decided to add one of these to our emergency kit and also one to our car camping kit. We've been able to use the lantern car camping and our son loves winding the handle to charge it. He thinks it's pretty cool to use the light in the evening to play games (set it on the table) and have story time in the tent (hang it from the gear loft). The multiple brightness settings helps you not blind yourself when you are using it for close-up work (reading) but also see details when it's really dark (setting up the tent after sunset). We appreciate the fact that we can keep our phones charged if we need them (for photos, looking up trail reports, and using Google maps- this is car camping after all). The light stays charge for quite a while and it doesn't take a ton of winding to get a decent charge on a cell phone. When we get home from camping we always plug the lantern into a cell phone charger and get the battery up to full power before packing it away. It always holds the charge between trips. Last month we were volunteering at an adventure race and the point person at the finish line had her phone battery die. I ran and grabbed this and a phone cord from my truck and was able to charge up her phone so that the race director could still communicate with her via text while he was out on the course. We're expecting a couple back-to-back wind storms this weekend so I'm getting both of our lanterns out in case the power goes out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loved it! Had this out on a three week llama cruise of the JMT National Forest section and it was wonderful! Not only is it a versatile light, but it's a great recharging source. I teamed it up with my Nomad 13, a couple of Guide 10s and some cables for my phone and camera. I love the ability to generate power with the crank. I love the dual light function and the dimmer on/off dial.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exceptional lighting I habe bought many LED lights in the past including some that has the option to charge it by a hand crank. This lantern out performs them all. It's brighter, more durable, and hold a charge a lot longer than the others. Add in the several options to charge it and you have the best lantern on the market.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very functional Light works well in all modes except that red leds should be raised higher to see them better from the sides. split function of main light light is great. You are able to direct light to one direction or a 360 degree area. Long life on charge.

Is this water resistant enough it can be used in the rain?

Asked by: davionics
This lantern does not have any sort of waterproof rating due to the open USB port. We do not recommend taking this out in the rain.
