Rated 5 out of 5 by from Plus size Flip Think of the Flip 30 as a bare bones Venture 30 or a bare bones half-pint Sherpa 50. The New Flip 30 is about the size of a pack of smokes but packs plenty of power for what it's designed for. This unit works well powering those small USB 4 inch fans like what you would find at Harbor Freight. Flip30 will run it all night - (Great for those sultry nights camping during the dog days of summer). I also use it with the Mini Lighthouse. Plug the USB charging cable from the Lighthouse into the Flip30 and you get triple the endurance. Pair it with a mini Light-a-Life and you have a stellar tent lighting system or emergency lighting while traveling. I charge my Flip30 with a Nomad13.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Sweet! I bought this to add into my ultralight camping setup as an emergency power source and / or to keep peripherals going. It will completely recharge my iPhone 6 from completely dead 2x or bring my iPad Air from completely dead to 65% 1x. It's light, simple to use, small to pack and does just what I needed. Very happy with it overall, although I would have liked 4 full charges for the phone instead of 2 just to have that extra margin for those trips backcountry that run longer than expected.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Complement to the Goal Zero Nomad 7 Plus I needed a way to both charge and use my cell phone. I also wanted to have backup power for my headlamp and SPOT transponder. This was a good solution. The unit is solidly built, easy to use, and offers good feedback about power and charging status. I charged the Flip 30 fully during the sunny daytime with my Nomad 7 Plus, and then recharged my phone at night. This way, I could use my phone all day as camera and trail tracker without being encumbered by a charging cord. The one thing that I wish it could do is let me daisy chain the Flip 30 and my phone so I could charge them both at the same time. It seemed the one time I tried this, the Flip 30 stopped charging. So maybe I'll try a USB splitter cable next time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good power Great power supply. I bought 1 for my mom for Christmas last year and liked it so much I got 1 for me as well. I use it to charge my phone. I can get about 3 charges at 50% battery on my phone but I've not put it to the test on a dead battery yet. The only negative I have is the USB that's built in for charging the way it flips around seem like I might brake it but I'm hard on my equipment. But over all great product I would buy it again

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Problems charging phone I bought to use on scouting trips. Battery stops charging after 5-10 minutes and I have to push the usb button again to restart but it stops again. Charging should start just by plugging in your phone. Maybe I have a defective one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best at its size We purchased several for grandchildren as well as mothers to use with cell phones as well as I-pads. So far amazing acceptance and without any problems. Highly recommend this Flip 30 for immediate back up.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It’s alright, a little disappointed I have other goal zero products like the nomad 7 and switch 10. Those products I give 4-5 stars. Unfortunitly the switch 30 isn’t as impressive. While around 10,300 EL and at around 50°F it seemed to charge my phone very slow. Down a time my house under normal conditions it seems to charge at a normal rate, although I’ve been checking it intermittently and find that it has stopped charging my phone despite having a full charge to the switch 30. So reluctantly I unplug the cord, and the. Again reinsert to start charging again. Maybe I have a bad unit, but yeah it’s meh...

Rated 1 out of 5 by from dead in 4 months. this power pack is not well designed with the flip being unstable. charging is a challenge with balancing and after 4 months of hiking/travelling and keeping it dry it has developed a circuit issue and won't charge any device. it alternates between fully charged and dead very unreliable.

Questions & Answers

This appears to have a USB male connection, so when you are near a power source ( and are likely to have access to a cable) you won`t need one to charge this, and then when you are in the outdoors (and likely have less access to cables) you will need one?

Asked by: atomantjapan
Yes, you will need to use the charging cable that you would typically use to charge your electronic when you’re home.

is this a device you charge at home and then use to charge something else?  How long does it itself hold a charge once you've charged it? As in if I charge it and wait two weeks to charge something will it still charge fully?

Asked by: cmarkia
Yes, this device can either be solar charged or charged at home prior to your trip. It stores power and can then be used to charge your devices. The battery shelf life is between 3-6 months.
