NOT 50mm

Look like decent fenders, but they are NOT 50mm wide they are 45mm. I measured. The description on the packaging states they are 45s, the applied label states they are 50s. That 5mm makes a difference in fitting your wider tires up to 47mm. Contact REI to confirm width before ordering.

I have owned three sets of these. Every set broke in the same place; all three front fenders snapped behind the stays, and all three rear fenders snapped just behind the mount that bold to the frame. Brittle plastic, only lasts 4-8 months with regular riding.

Dark Copper not black

These are super easy to install if you know what you are doing. These are also super dark copper color not black. Make sure you pit the wire frame with the plastic break-always on the front otherwise the wire may run against your disc brakes. My Giant Revolt has fender mounts under the carbon fork, chain stay bridge and seat stay bridge. This means you will have to drill out the hanger on the front fender, and drill a hole in the rear fender to bolt it into the seat stay bridge mount. I run 700cx40mm tires with just enough clearance. Instead of the provided spaces, I used leather spacers on min.

Not the Best Fenders

I've been riding with fenders on my bikes since the 1960's and I can clearly say that these are not the best fendrs out there....for some reason SKS made the front fender shorter than it should be in which will not provide as good coverage for the front wheel...The P50 is shorter than the P-45 and the rear flap sits higher which allows a lot of the water and wet stuff from the road still hit the bottom bracket. Your feet will get wet faster than it should....These fenders are pretty flimsy too...Aluminum or stainless steel fenders for Randonneur bikes will provide better protection front and back and will last longer...SKS could have done better!

1 year and Thousands of Miles (2 Bikes)

These fenders are excellent full coverage fenders. My wife and I both have them on our touring bikes and have abused them on cobble stone roads across Europe, gravel and dirt roads and trails and we leave them on while taking our bikes on flights in soft sided bags. They have not failed us yet. (If they break next week because I wrote this review and jinxed us I'll provide an update.) On one set I did add a drop of super glue to the plastic trim piece on the leading edge of the front fender on to stop a very minor rattle. I still give them 5 stars.

Fit fine on 2019 Niner RLT 9 Steel

I put these on my 2019 Niner RLT 9 Steel bike with Niner carbon fork. There were no problems. I did bend the stays around the front disk caliper. This was a cleaner and more stable option than using the spacers which were provided. (I can't upload photos for some reason.) Installing fenders on any bike requires patience, flexibility and a bit of creativity. These weren't too bad. I wish the fender had a more curved profile so it would nest higher into the space at the top of my fork. The stock 40mm tires fit within the fenders. There is room to spare, especially in back. All necessary hardware was in the box. Even if I hadn't used a couple of bolts that were already in my frame, I would have had tons extra left over.

A little extra work.

Since my CTY 2.2 has rear facing mounting holes I needed to install "L" brackets to mount the front stays. The location also reduces the radius so the stays needed some bending. Also the mount on top of the front fender had to be filed longer to give better tire clearance. Except for the added brackets and 2 screws all the hardware was included. After adjusting the stay positions the clearance for 40mm tires was fine.

Good, but not great, for an Aventon Soltera

These fenders are pretty alright, although the front fender is so thick that it doesn't fit under the fork very well. Still, I WAS able to get it all fit.

Great Fenders

Yes - these can be a pain to install, but if you take your time these are the best (in my opinion). I haven't experienced cracks as mentioned in another review here. I did have a pair on my commuter bike for 30 years (when they were Esge). For installation help there's an excellent video on Youtube.

So far these are great...

...they came recommended by a friend who is a bike mechanic and rode a set from Washington to Colorado and back with no problems. When I started the install I thought how hard can it be? I've put fenders on many a bike but never the modern bikes with disc brakes. I put these on a Salsa Marrakesh and the old adage "You have to break some eggs to make an omelet" comes to mind. You will not necessarily have these mounted where both sides look the same. You will not have these mounted without bending the stays. Once you get that thought firmly in mind you'll do just fine. It took me about three hours of meticulous trial and error to get the fenders on just right to where they cover the 43 mm tires on my bike. I've ridden about 500 miles with them installed and no rattles or indication of problems so far.

Useful but brittle and difficult to set up

I have a love-hate relationship with these. I like the longboard style, which means extra coverage and water deflection especially near your toes. I like that once you set them up, you never have to set them up again. That is...until they break. Like another reviewer, I'm on my 3rd pair of these. With somewhat regular use on the road, the plastic on the front fender has a tendency to fatigue and eventually break right between the mudguard and rivets. Following replacement, set-up can be a bit cumbersome, with the cutting the metal stays and the strange plastic spacers that were never discussed in the directions, etc. I don't have a degree in engineering, but I imagine installing these fenders could be used as homework for an engineering course. Overall, I didn't like replacing these the first, second, or third time, though feel their length and coverage almost make up the material and mechanical shortcomings. There must be a reason why I continue to get these fenders, even when they break...
