Rated 3 out of 5 by from Slides down the calves They are waterproof, but the cinching design around the calf is a simple draw cord. It lacks the surface area of buckled designs, so you have pull them up occasionally. You can get them super tight, but then the draw cord starts to hurt you. My legs are longer, so you may have better results. Good construction, durable.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works well with my hiking shoe :) I wear them most times when I go out. I use them more for rough terrain to protect my pants from thorns etc. I never have to pull them up. The velcro strap in the middle is so thick and stiff it holds it up straight. I wear hiking shoes underneath theme and I have been very happy. to warm in 70 deg weather.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Zero issues I used this for three winters before one of them finally gave in to repeated abuse from all manner of sharp things attached to my feet. I just ordered a new pair for an upcoming trip. I've used these on extended winter hikes (10+ hours), and they're one of the pieces of gear I just put on and forget about.

Has anyone ever used them for wet weather cycling? If so, do you recommend?

Asked by: Roberrol
This may help with keeping you dry in wet-weather cycling. However, you'll find better success with a softshell cycling shoe cover or a cycling stretch shoe gaiter in that they create a better grip over the shoe and provide more flexibility for movement with a stretch fabric material.

If this one also only goes up to mid-calf then what is the difference between this gaiter and the 3/4 alpine gaiter (https://www.rei.com/product/101626/rei-alpine-34-gaiters)?

Asked by: K Silva
The height of the Alpine Gaiters is 16 inches. The height of the Alpine 3/4 Gaiters is 10 inches.
