Rated 3 out of 5 by from New design may take awhile to get used to. Just got tested this today after getting a new pack as a warranty replacement. This is my third generation of Osprey's aqua bladder which started with the Nalgene one. I kind of like the zipper top for filling, it seems like a clever design but will take a few uses to get used to. Two things that I immediately do not like. 1) The angled mouth piece makes it impossible for hands free use on a bike. 2) There is no loop on the bottom of the bladder to hang dry overnight. I use my pack almost daily and usually hang the bladder next to the pack to drip dry between uses. Removing the loop that was on previous versions seems like an unnecessary oversight.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice bladder, durable, new opening makes cleaning possible Broke my old bladder, got this new one. Been using it nearly daily for 9 months. The new opening system fits a hand inside so I can scrape out the scunge. I also soak mine with gin. Really easy to clean. The new opening system has a plasic slide that holds the flap shut. The slide has a hook on it to hang inside the pack. The hook isn't strong enough to hold 100oz of bouncing bladder and broke on the first use. Fortunately the bladder has a stabilizing plastic back so I just shove the bladder into the pouch on my pack and it stands up and is comfortable. Really really happy with this bladder. If/when this one wears out I'll buy another.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pour spout is amazing! I bought the 3L and have used it on multiple backpacking trips. In the past, I have used alternative versions of this bladder with average feedback. The Osprey version comes with a magnetic clip to keep your mouth piece in place, and also has a pour spout that seperates the product from it's competition. Being able to easily move large amounts of water from on container to another while cooking makes your trail experience ao much better. I usually try to save money on gear where I can, but this is a product that is certianly worth a few extra dollars. Pros: Pour spout, magnetic mouthpiece clip, detachable hose, flat back Con: price, non insulated tubing

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Don't know how I lived with my old one I was in the store looking to buy a replacement bite valve for an old 3L Hydraulics I had when I saw this. I purchased this just for the new features. The bigger fill opening (Located at the top and not the side is a big plus), the detachable hose (Making it so much easier to slip into the reservoir sleeve in my pack instead of having to try and jam the bite valve through the small tube opening, which is how I think I broke my old one), and just the overall design. Very happy with my purchase and can't recommend this enough.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Product I bought two of these reservoirs about two weeks ago for myself and my fiance for a hike in the Adirondacks, one for a m/L Kestrel 38 and the other for a medium Ariel 65. They fit into both of the packs nicely and the stiff backing of the reservoir made it very comfortable to wear in both of the packs. We washed both of them with soap and water and while there was still a small hint of a plastic taste in the water the benefits of this reservoir far outweigh the slight plastic taste. With time I feel the taste will go away. The top loading system makes the reservoir incredibly easy to fill with water and easy to clean after use. There was no leaking from the bite valve. All around this is a great reservoir. I would highly recommend this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Reservior Worked perfectly on a hiking trip in the Andes of Peru I just completed. I couldn't be more pleased. Easy to fill and no leaks. I love the design. Drying it out at the end of a trip is as easy as using a wad of paper towel to keep the large mouth open. I hung mine right side up and it dried out quickly. I expect it will last a long time. If I ever need another reservoir I will replace it with this same model. I am out of superlatives....

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Best I've used so far and I've been using hydration reservoirs of various makes for nearly 20 years. The folding top is much less bulky and far more convenient than the screw cap style for refilling and cleaning. The carrying handle works well; I love the hose quick disconnect system; and I love the stiffener which helps to insert the reservoir into a backpack and prevent the soft reservoir from folding in on itself. One feature lacking is a semi-divided chamber like you find on Camelback which prevents the reservoir from "ballooning" and keeps the reservoir flatter when full of water, so that your pack main compartment is not deformed with a hump or rests flatter on your back. Not a deal breaker but if it had that feature, I would give it 5 stars.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lots of thoughtful features. Watch the video! I bought this reservoir to use in my Ariel 75 on a 12-day trek coming up next month. Took it out for a short test hike in my Daylight day pack (it fit perfectly in the external h2o pocket, surprisingly) and it works great! I love the magnetic sternum strap attachment and the detachable hose. The top filling design is easy to use and you don't have to worry about the clip hitting the dirt when filling in the backcountry because it doesn't touch your water inside, unlike the screw-on lid of my camelback. Also much easier to get open & closed, and much easier to get into the pack with the rigid back (let's face it, it will never be easy to shove a full reservoir into a full pack, but this helps immensely!). I did notice a strong plastic taste at first, but did as the video suggested, squeezed a lemon into it, added water and froze it (overnight), put it in the sink to thaw, then emptied & rinsed, and now it's fine. And I'm picky about the taste of water. Highly recommended!

Will this fit in the Osprey Daylite Day pack?

Asked by: Rebel66
I've read in a few reviews that owners of the newer Daylight packs think they will accommodate up to a 3 liter hydraulics bladder. I think we are going to have to wait until it's release to know for sure.

What is the proper bite valve cover for the Osprey Hydraulic Reservoir 3 Litter and where can I purchase one.  I just purchase the Hydraulic reservoir from REI but they did not have a cover for it in the store.  I need to protect the Bite Valve from dirt.

Unfortunately we do not have a bite valve cover for the Hydraulics Reservoir. You can purchase Osprey Bite Valve Sheaths from other retailers.

Will this work with the Manta 30 from 5-6 years back (which originally came with the Nalgene bladder)? The last generation reservoir (with the curved handle) pushed out the rigid "Airspeed" backing, rendering it useless.
