Rated 5 out of 5 by from A TRUE rainproof coat A lot of coats claim rainproof , but the Wenaha is the best I ever wore. Not a drop inside and has vents that keep it cool. It is European fit so it has zipper on the opposite side from typical US (No big deal) and also is more tapered so I would suggest a size larger than you may be used to. I typically wear a Large, and it fit , but wanted a little more room for layers in cold so opted for XL. ( I'm 5'10'', 190 LB.) It is also long enough to cover down to top of thigh which is a godsend in the storms we are fortunately having in the Bay Area his year. Also the hood fit perfect. Enjoy!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 100% weather proof This jacket is a must have if you are going to encounter some less than ideal weather. There is no weather that is too bad to go outside, only weather you are simply not prepared for. With this shell, you can be prepared for most anything. I've used it on my biking commute to work in torrential downpours and been perfectly dry. I've used it as an outer shell skiing and kept the cold winds out and the pit zips kept me cool (It also survived a few icy tumbles). This also went with me climbing Mt. Washington in March and virtually negated any chill from the 50+ MPH winds. If you are looking for a gore-tex shell jacket, this will definitely meet your needs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Rain Protection I purchased this jacket for a trip to the Pacific Northwest. Surprise, surprise, it rained almost every day. This jacket was perfect. Fortunately it wasn't too cold, because this tight fitting jacket (it does come from Europe) had only enough room to wear one layer underneath and be comfortable.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointing. REI needs quality check with Mammut I bought the first one in mid-Jan. I love its looking feel, light-weight, and comfort when I wear it. However, it failed on its most important purpose. After I shoveled my drive way under an hour of light snow, I found there was water leakage from most of the taped seams (the first two pictures). I was shocked because this is a product from three reputable companies – REI, Gore, and Mammut. I checked reviews on REI.com and found another person had the same issue. I returned the jacket to exchange a new one. On 2/13, I wore the new one to shovel under light snow for about 45 minutes. Shockingly, there was water around the taped seams inside of the jacket again (3rd picture). I returned it. This time I have NO confidence to get another replacement. I am suspecting there is quality control issue occurring to this batch of production. REI should take these two defective jackets along with others in the same production batch to review with Mammut ASAP. I never had any new Gore-Tex jacket with any leakage issue before. Having two in a row just shows something is really wrong. I wish I was as lucky as other customers who got this jacket without issue.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great jacket! Bought this jacket this weekend and it got a workout with Hurricane Matthew. Proved to be both waterproof and windproof yet very lightweight. Wore a fleece under it and had no binding. Great jacket.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Jacket Well constructed, European styling so the zipper is opposite side( the pull is on Left vs Right) compared to US. Its a SLIM/Athletic cut shell. So go a size larger if you are round in the middle or want more layers. Perfect fit for me and has nice long sleeves. I can put 2 layers on under and be snug but not overly tight.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from excellent hiking/city jacket I absolutely love the Mammut Wenaha Rain Jacket. I bought this jacket about a half a month ago. Due to the warmer than usual weather I've been able to put it to good use and can say I really like the wear and functionality of this jacket. I was deciding between this and the Marmot Minimalist Rain Jacket, but ultimately decided to go with the Wenaha due to REI's close working relationship on the jacket and a color selection that was more to my liking. The collaboration between REI and Mammut really provided for a well thought out product. Looking forward to putting it to much more use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Mulit-Use jacket that performs when it's wet I own a number of Gore-Tex pieces gear and was replacing an old Gore-Tex jacket that no longer fit. Performance was the main goal but the price point made this jacket even more tempting. It does miss some features like a chest zip pocket but definitely not a deal breaker. Fit is great for me in a Medium at 5'10" 165lbs, it has an athletic fit, not too big not too small. I grabbed the jacket before a big NorCal storm and I knew the first day out would be a great test and this jacket didn't let down when I got out snowboarding. I have since piled up a number of days on the mountain and this is a standard part of my gear choice for stormy deep powder days as well as the spring cruiser days as it breaths so well.

This is the Wenaha rain jacket.  The size chart gives me waist and inseam, but not chest size.  A jacket with an inseam?!  I want chest size!!!

The bottom of the size chart has a scroll bar. Simply scroll to the right to find the chest measurements for this jacket.

To whom gave 3 stars and found leakage issue, Did you find out if it was really a defective one or it is just how the jacket performs? I just found mine has the same issue after shoveling in light snow for 45 mins. Water came in from all seams. Shocking

Asked by: kaku
Looks like your issue may have been condensation on the inside and not leaking from the outside.

Does this jacket have a 'tail' for sitting down on? What matching gear is suitable to protect the legs from wind and rain if worn with this jacket?

Asked by: robomatic
The back length on the Wenaha Rain Jacket is about an inch longer than the front, but it's not really meant as a sit pad. Here are some soft-shell pants from Mammut that will provide wind and rain protection: https://www.rei.com/product/100689/mammut-yocum-hybrid-pants-mens-32-inseam
