RecPak is a Staple in my Kit!
This stuff is incredible! I've been using it for several years now and I'm so excited to see it available at REI! We have RecPak with us on every trip- whether we are climbing, Bike packing, Trail Running, etc. Even just as an Ultra light emergency ration to keep in the bottom of our pack for shorter adventures. Being 700 calories in only about 6oz, it has become a staple part of our kit. We also noticed that it closely matched fueling recommendations outlined in the book "Training for the New Alpinism" making it a solution for Complete Nutrition for ultra endurance fueling and recovery. We have found the mild flavors are easy on the stomach during and after "at-your-limit" exertion. Weight Savings: - Leave the stove and fuel behind! - Far more effective nutrition for the weight than the typical collection of 200-ish calorie bars Not to mention the huge time savings in the backcountry! - No need to boil water - The Coffee Flavor is a 2-in-1 breakfast, with caffeine in the shake! - Fill-and-Go with the screw cap, you can prepare meals beforehand at the water source and carry them with you ready-to-eat. Other uses we have found over the years that make it a great addition to our Kit: - Empty packaging serves as a back-up water bladder for if your main one starts leaking - Packaging can be folded and used as a funnel for collecting a trickle of water down a rock face During many of my ultra-endurance outings, this stuff has brought me back to life in ways bars never could. Its truly a game changer and I attribute the success of many adventures to this product. Give it a try!
200 calories an hour, perfect for long days on the
As a woman who's always fighting to get enough fuel in on long days, RecPak Is always in my kit. I'd honestly rather drink my calories than stop and chew 5 bars. When I'm climbing, I make sure to get 200 calories every hour so I don't bonk because sometimes an 8-hour day turns into 18.
10/10
Rec-packs are more than just another camping/ hiking meal. I have used them personally not only camping but in search and rescue, Rock Climbing, wildland fires and so many other places. Here is a couple of examples why I always pack a Rec pack : First of all, they taste great. I have tried a lot of other quick meals and RP is one of my favorites. With a variety of flavors you’re bound to find one that you enjoy.(vanilla, coffee, chocolate are the ones I’ve tried) Secondly is It’s light weight, not bulky, and easy to make. Many other meals on the market can take up space in your pack or the freezer dried options get crushed to dust. RP is ready to go whenever as long as you have water. Overall I have absolutely nothing bad to say about Rec Pack, the owners are awesome people and have super quick customer support.
The perfect calorie replacement for big days
I first tried RecPaks at an ice climbing festival and fell in love with the idea. A protein shake for the mountains. Ive tried so many different food options for massive days climbing or on a bikepacking trip, from bottles of olive oil to dry ramen bricks.... Safe to say these little calorie bombs are easily the best way to carry a full meal into the backcountry and get you through those long missions. Plus they taste way better than spoonfuls of olive oil and ramen flakes. If you're looking for a great way to save weight and bring a big meal on a hike, on a run for race day, a bike trip, a climb, a hunt, you name it.. these are the ticket.
Great mountain fuel
I struggle with eating in the morning. I don’t have much of an appetite, but I know I need the fuel for long days in the mountains. I’ve been using RecPak for years, and it’s my go to breakfast. I don’t head into the mountains without it. it.
Great for sensory issues and quick fuel
I’ve relied on RecPak for a couple years now to help me stay fueled and healthy in the backcountry. I don’t always have time or energy or a will to eat solid food. This solves that issue. It tastes good, but certainly don’t expect it to taste like some super yummy meal… its whole point is healthy fuel, not a Michelin rating. I can think of so many times I would have been in trouble without having this nutrition available to me- it’s a game changer.
Perfect Fuel for Long Days on the Trail
Perfect Fuel for Long Days on the Trail I had the opportunity to use RecPak during Love Is King’s Freedom to Roam bike packing mission on the Oregon Timber Trail, where RecPak helped support our team with meal supplements. When you’re spending long days in the field, having something that is lightweight, packable, quick to prepare, and actually provides substantial nutrition makes a huge difference. RecPak was easy to carry, easy to use, and gave us a convenient way to get calories and nutrition in without slowing down the mission. I also really appreciate that the company supports organizations and initiatives that are helping more people get outside and experience the outdoors. It’s awesome to see RecPak now available at REI. Definitely a product I’d recommend for long days on the trail, travel, or any adventure where space, time, and nutrition matter.
Perfect Fuel for Long Days on the Trail
I had the opportunity to use RecPak while taking part in Love Is King’s Freedom to Roam mission along the Oregon Timber Trail. RecPak supported our team with meal supplements throughout the trip, and they were incredibly useful during long days on the trail. When you’re spending hours riding through remote terrain, carrying everything you need and trying to stay fueled, convenience matters. Having something that was easy to pack, quick to prepare, and provided substantial nutrition made it a great option when stopping for a full meal wasn’t always practical. I also really appreciate RecPak supporting organizations and outdoor initiatives that help get more people into wild spaces. I’m glad to see them available at REI now and would absolutely recommend them for bikepacking, backpacking, travel, or any adventure where space, weight, and reliable nutrition matter.
Perfect for a big alpine day
Big RecPak fan! So psyched they are at REI now. The 700 cañories and 42g of protein makes packing food for a big adventure soo much easier, tastes great and I love that I can pronounce all of the ingredients. Big fan of the chocolate and vanilla chai flavors.
