New micro anchor is aweful
The anchor mechanism sucks. Its so hard to disconnect I had so much trouble trying to get the anchor off the wrist strap out of the box. Once I finally did and attached to my phone case it I tried to test it. Attaching it is simple enough, but I trying it get disconnected it way too hard. My phone case ended up giving out before the disconnect happened.
Not that hard to disconnect. Don’t be put off.
I’m posting this review to balance out the negative ones about the micro anchor being too hard to open, as they nearly out me off. I took the risk as I’ve neen very pleased with my other Peak Design purchases, and I’m glad I did. The Cuff is the usual high quality and premium finish that you can expect from Peak Design. The micro anchor is stiff the first time you open it so I’d reccommend doing this off of the phone case before attaching it. I open and closed mine about 10-20x until it loosened up, then attached it to the phone case. Once you get the knack of opening it it’s quite easy. I just put my finger on the end of the cord whete it attaches to the phone case (to prevent excessive tension on the case) then pull the anchor away with cord pulling down and backwards (relative to the anchor) and it pops off easily every time. The ibis one goes beautifully with the orange iphone 17 (as does the green and orang PD case - got compliments on it recently).
Falling apart after just a couple weeks
I love that Peak Design released this series. It's new so I expected some imperfections but just after some mild use the strap fabric is fraying.
Poor system with no instructions
There is no explanation anywhere as to how this product works. That is insane to me. I went through the box, the company's webpage, the instructions, etc. Nothing. I guess the small "anchors" have to be violently pulled from its resting holder. WOW. I would have thought there might be a trick, like "twist this" or something. Every time I go to pull it out I feel like I am about to break the string or the holder. I can't believe someone engineered this product, and it was released with no instructional video. This from a bay area "tech" company. You must be kidding. UNREAL.
Quality Product
Just received these this week. I have had wrist lanyards from two previous companies. This Mobile Cuff is of superior quality. Beautifully made. A little learning curve on snapping the attachment on and off. Once you have the hang of it - very easy and feels very secure. Very happy!
Simply the best
One of the best compact camera straps around. Bought for my little Leica to replace a faulty original one. The micro anchor system is genius and ideal for both my phone and compact camera
Best strap for Ricoh GR
Perfect wrist strap for the Ricoh GR series camera. I have it on my GRIV and love it!
Clean Design, Frustrating Function
I usually really like Peak Design products, especially their design and ease of use. I prefer camera straps that are quick and easy to attach and remove without much effort while still feeling secure. Unfortunately, this strap falls short. The anchors are surprisingly difficult to remove, making it far from user-friendly. Instead of feeling quick and effortless, it becomes frustrating and defeats the purpose of a quick-release system. While it looks clean and minimal, the overall functionality is disappointing.
The best phone strap available.
I bought this strap a month ago after selling my A7RV and switching to my iPhone as my only camera, I found myself dropping my phone several times when trying to get a shot from a difficult angle just because of the ergonomics of the phone. I had been a Peak Design user for many years with all my cameras, so this was the first place I looked and I found the Mobil Cuff. Like all Peak Design products, the design and execution are just the best. This is the perfect cell phone / camera accessory.
Works really well
Just what I was after. The micro anchor works well - clicks when in so you know it’s secure. It’s just a twist and pull of the micro anchor strap against the rest of the cuff strap to release - works a treat everytime, but you do have to do it that way otherwise it won’t release easily (that’s a plus in my book!). Good size of strap and slim build. Feels really comfortable and now I don’t worry about taking photos from high bridges or in busy locations. Great job.
