Just what I needed
This was a really useful layer for a recent trip to Ireland, where the weather changes many times in a day. I was looking for a very lightweight fleece that I could wear in a lot of situations and this fit the bill perfectly (I did remove the small Mountain Hardware chest patch to make it look more like a sweater and better for travel). I wore it almost every day—other layers (rain shell, down vest, wool-blend hoodie, etc.) were off and on but this worked with every combination and stayed on most of the time. It’s lightweight and compressible for travel, very soft and comfortable, and the blue worked well with my mostly-black travel palette. Note that the fit is slightly wide at the hips but not in a noticeable way.
It's not made like they used to
It's not like my old microchill jackets of which I have several. It seems the fabric is the same. The cool logo zipper pulls are no longer used. The hemline adjustability is no longer there and I used this feature a lot. Sizing is far different. I ordered my usual medium and it was huge. I returned for a small. It's still a bit big but will work. The silhouette used to be feminine and is now somewhat boxy and unattractive. I do love the Outer Dark color.
