Big Agnes  Tiger Wall UL3 Bikepack Solution Dye Tent

Bought for my 20 yo son. Used in Washington, Montana, Vermont on backpacking and fly fishing trips. He loves it. Weight/space ratio is great. Best for 2. 3 people would be way too cozy. Great tent.

I bought this tent mostly for hiking since my kids are getting old enough to do day/weekend trips. I got the three person tent which fit me and one of my kids plus gear pretty good, definitely would need a bigger tent for another kid. The only issues I really have with it is that the rain fly and zipper don't really get along. Also, I live in a hot and humid place with the fly on it traps a lot of heat which condenses. The fly works great against rain so that's a plus. Would I buy this tent again? Yes. The weight alone sets it apart and the ease of attaching it to a backpack or bike make it a killer piece of equipment.

This has been my go to tent for camping the past year or so now and it has seen use on the tour divide, BWCA, and a bunch of smaller trips. I've been very pleased with it's durability, lightweight and ease of use. I've primarily used it as a two person tent and it has plenty of space for two oversized sleeping pads and gear. The gear loft is very handy for stashing two helmets to keep them away from chewing mice. I was worried it was a goner when a strong storm and 50+mph winds came out of nowhere in the boundary water, but it battled the winds and kept us dry despite a subsequent monsoon and water roaring underneath. My only complaint is that the stakes that came with it weren't very user friendly in rocky environments. After bending a few I swapped them for some titanium shepherds hooks which are easier to use and hold adequately.

I haven't been able to bikepack with this tent yet but I was able to take it on a short backpacking trip through Shenandoah. Love the short pole set. An alteration made to fit the kit between drop bars. But I found it to be a benefit when backpacking as well. Although it is advertised as 3P, I probably wouldn't put three people in this tent. I shared the tent with my partner and we found it to be a great size if you want a little bit of extra room for your gear inside with you. And for the extra couple of ounces, the pro outweighed the con. Would definitely recommend this tent.

I've used this tent for bike packing the roads of the Eastern Sierras. It fits on my road bike handlebars perfectly. Form and Function, this tent is IT! Easy to set up, break down, and so fun to sleep in.

I've taken this tent out now half a dozen times. It's super easy to set up and Big Agnes has thought out all the little details. Reflective everything makes it easy to set up in the dark. The clicks to attach the fly to the tent are *chefs kiss*. The pockets inside are a game changer. Feels stable in the wind & rain. Few small complaints: - Two toggles that don't have a corresponding loop to tie the fly into. - On the contrary, one of the doors has no toggle to tie up. - Can be hard to get out without getting wet from the fly if it has been raining.

I took this tent out for the first time two weeks ago and absolutely loved it. We took it into deep backcountry, as part of a 45 mile hike over 4 days. We were at a high elevation with this for two of the days, well above the tree line. When you're above trees and just in exposed areas the winds, rains, snow, hail can get pretty intense. Even though we were backpacking in July, the high elevation mountains of Utah can still get snow/hail at times. One night it started raining super hard and then turned to hail. For several hours I literally laid inside my tent and kept praying that the rain and hail would not get into the tent, and that the super heavy winds wouldn't collapse it. I fell asleep praying, and thankfully woke up the next morning to see the tent still standing strong. Even though they say this is just a two season tent, this stood up to some pretty intense winds and hail/snow. It had a thin covering over much of the rainfly of snow the next morning, and inside we were bone dry. I know this is a bikepacking tent, but I love how compact it is and how it fits super nice inside my backpack, and so I'm using it for long hiking trips. I do bikepack every once in a while and so I'm glad it will double for those adventures as well. This is super worth the price. Also, this is a 3 person tent that really would fit 3 people in a decently comfortable way. I used it with just one other person but we had plenty of space and could have fit another, especially if using on a cycling trip where weight is ultra important.

I waited to review this tent until I had taken it out multiple times in a variety of conditions, so here it goes: My first impression is that it is extremely packable- it compresses down so small that I can put it inside my backpacking pack, lying flat just above my sleeping bag. It's a clever pole design, and the weight is reasonable for the space it provides. Since the tent is semi-freestanding, you have to stake out some corners. This is a mild inconvenience almost certainly designed to reduce weight from poles and attachment points, but keep this in mind if you plan to camp anywhere that would make driving stakes in difficult or impossible. The zippers on the inside tent are not ideal- every now and then, they get hung up horribly on the fabric. I do love their “door keeper“ (I believe that's what it's called) system to just tuck the doors aside when not in use. This tent is not the waterproof shelter I had hoped for, and we ended up having to put a poncho over top of the tent in Utah rains to keep from getting completely saturated. I don't know if this issue would be fixed with an additional spray of water repellent coating, but this is not the tent I would choose for a trip during which heavy rain is expected. The storage compartments on the inside are excellent- enough for clothing, headlamps, books, or whatever else you need readily accessible. The stakes are okay, if a bit flimsy. It seems some structural quality was sacrificed for the sake of weight and packability, which I'm not willing to accept in extremely windy environments. Overall, I like this tent for its packability, interior storage, and color. Its water resistance and zippers leave something to be desired.

Not a long-term test, but this tent is easy to set up (does require at least 9 stakes if you want to be dry) and ventilates well. The helmet storing and gear straps are a nice touch for bikepacking. This is lighter than our current 2 person backpacking tent, but it definitely needs a footprint because the tent floor is lightweight and not waterproof. Two doors and two vestibules are nice. Didn't have any trouble with zippers. Roomy for 2 adults. My wife and I and our infant fit fine but we use 20" wide sleeping pads.

I already had a Tiger Wall UL2, and love it. But needed something a bit bigger as we are doing some family backpacking. When the bikepack UL3 version showed up, I was shocked. It packs up smaller (and much shorter) than the UL2. I'm excited about how this guy is going to fit in my backpack as well, not just on the handlebars. I haven't used it on a trip yet, but I already love it. The only thing I could say against it is that I liked the yellow a bit more than the beige. But... whatever. This is a FANTASTIC tent.
